My cousin is in the hospital, in AL
They think she had a mild stroke. They have ran test after test, cannot figure out what is going on.
She stood up the other day, got very dizzy and then her right side went numb.
She is still very weak on her right side.
Her blood pressure was 188/133 which is extremely high.
She is only 43.
The tests have revealed her heart is fine, no blood clots, arteries are good.
So, they are calling in a cardiologist today to see about her b/p.
They say if you have light, mild strokes, that a big one could happen sooner or later. I cannot loose this gal. Please send rayz for her.
Her name is Regina.
Thanks everyone. We appreciate it.

:rayz: :rayz: :rayz: Sending lots and lots of healing rays and prayers! Hopefully, this was just a warning and now they can control the blood pressure for her. I had a similar situation in my 40's and finally figured out that the decongestant that I was using for allergies was causing my blood pressure to spike at 199/120. Now it is below normal. So much for Sudafed!

OMG she's so young to have this happen. :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: coming to her from Canada. Don't get discouraged, people recover from strokes all the time. She'll have to make some big decisions on lifestyle changes but she can overcome this. :hugs1:

They released her from the hospital.
She starts physical therapy this Friday.
They are still not sure what caused this.
They said it was a mild stroke, but since they didnt find anything, they are saying Migraine headaches caused this. NEVER heard of that. SHe hasnt had a migraine in about 6 months.
So we are all very concerned.
We just Pray that she doesnt get another.
We have never heard of a migraine, causing high blood pressure and right side numbness.

I get migraines very occasionally. In my case they do cause numbness in one side of the body, although I get the "aura" before the actually pain, and I've read that not all migraine sufferer's get that.

Hope your cousin's feeling better and that there's no cause for alarm. Sending lots of healing rays :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: .

I used to have migraines, too. I had the "aura", but never right side numbness. How scary! I hope your cousin does well with her physical therapy. Sending more rayz. :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz:

I'm glad that Regina will be okay with therapy. It is scary to know that migraines can cause this problem. My sister has had migraines all her life. Sending rays for continued healing. :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz:

So glad they found out what it might be. Migraines are horrible. I have suffered from them since I was a teenager. There are so many different kinds of migraines out there and it seems that lots of doctors now adays want to lump them all into the same category. I hope Regina sees a specialist and finds a treatment for hers. It took a long time for me to be able to find a treatment that "catered" to my symptoms. I get auras, extreme nausea and sometimes temporary blindness. And my migraines are on the "good" side of the scale. :yikes: Throughout the years, I have managed to find most of my "triggers" (food diaries and scent diaries) and adjust my life accordingly although I still keep phengren and relpax close at hand. In the meantime, whenver I get a headache (which seems to be daily) I take excedrin. I truly believe I have become dependent on those things. I do know that the blood vessels in the brain expand and cause nerve endings to become irritated etc. There are lots of websites and support groups for migraine sufferers out there. There are also some holistic therapies that can help. Alot of people who have never had one find it hard to believe that a "simple headache" can cause such agony. :crying: I truly hope your cousin does well w/her treatments.

Miagraines are horrilbe. I do know that they can affect your blood pressure and frankly I'm not surprised at anything they can cause. I suffered with them for years and was in the study for Imatrex. I never had the auras but my head would hurt so bad it would feel like it was going numb (tingling). I have finally learned what triggers mine and avoid those things. One of my triggers is sinus headaches - I take allergy medicine regularly and if I get a sinus headache I do everything I can to get rid of it before the little miagraine devils wake up. Another is extreme frustration and anger - yeah that one is hard to control - but I just remeber how bad the miagraines are and I manage to calm down... most of the time.

I really wish your cousin the best with her therapy and with the miagraines. We are sending her lots of rays and will keep her in our prayers.

For those of you that have never had one, well, they are totally evil and must come strait from the devil!
