Last night we went to the pet store and my youngest son picked out a small, squeaky, football for Otis. We brought it home and gave it to him. He had trouble getting a hold on it, and lost interest quickly. My son suggested that we play with it, and Otis might decide he wants it. Didn't work. So, my son threw it at our 12 year old, 130 lb., Alaskan Malamute who HATES toys and he tries to catch it. He misses, and gets so mad that he picks it up in his mouth and starts squeaking it. Well, Otis is just staring, not knowing what to make of this. My son decides that the football can be Chinook's, since he's never interested in toys. He played with it for a long time (for him) and I was surprised it held up and wasn't flattened.

I was up late studying and took Otis outside one last time. We came up the stairs for bed and Otis sees the little football lying on the floor next to the sleeping dog, Chinook. He tiptoes over, so not to wake the big bad wolf, and gingerly grabs that football (that he could care less about!). He ran downstairs and ran all over, as if looking for a place to hide it! At this point, I am just losing it! He runs back up the stairs and into the bedroom, NEVER letting go of the precious possession. The "look" on his face was one of pure pride and of,"I tricked ya!" Anyway, it was so funny, just one more example of sibling rivalry.

My mom's dog Oscar, and my last dog Buddy were brothers from the same litter. They played together all the time and the sibling rivalry was incredible. Buddy always seemed to win though.

Buddy's best ploy was when Oscar wanted to play with something, Buddy would pretend he wasn't interested in playing. He'd completely ignore Oscar. B would pick up another toy or want to have one of us pick him up...completely turn away from Oscar. He was quite rude. He'd do this until Oscar wasn't paying attention, and then WHAMMO! He'd run over and steal Oscar's toy.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/bad-boy.gif We could all see it coming every single time, everyone could see it coming, except poor Oscar that is...
