Took Augie to a local fireworks show. I did not think that he would mind it, he did very well with the BIG thunder storms over the past two weeks.

His nose was working OVERTIME! With all the food stands and people wanting to pet the pupper. Then the kids wanting to put glow sticks as a new collar. One two year old gave hime a flickering hat. Too big I told her, petted the pup and skipped away.

Then the fireworks, I was wrong. Little Aug has heard lightning, but always was inside. Now he could see and FEEL the noise. In to the lap and under a sweater he went, poor pup I felt bad, but after 5-10 min he was ok with the big noise, but the flashes, Aug did not like it.

He liked the rides in the car though, and all the people and kids.

Anyone out there that has a doxie that likes/dislikes fireworks or lightning?

My Gretchen is terrified of thunder. If she hears any noise that resembles it, she's in someone's lap!

This week some of our neighbors have been shooting fireworks. When she hears it, she won't even go out to go potty!

I hate that she has to be so frightened. She gets alot of extra hugs during storms!

Conrad and Finnious don't seem to mind thunder at all. They have been subjected to them pretty much since they came home with me, so I think they are used to them. As for fireworks, they don't seem to notice the cracking sounds or the whisting of piccolo petes at all. I'm planning on taking them with me to the 4th of July celebration downtown, and I guess I'll see if the big boomers bug them. I suspect that they wont, but given what you said about Auggie, I could be wrong! I guess I'll know after tomorrow night http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif.

Becky Ann doesn't pay any attention to lightning or thunder, but our rescue sheltie hates it so she runs from window to window Barking like crazy and Becky Ann follows along behind barking at the Sheltie. I would like to hide under the bad because it is all too much for me. lol We don't know about fireworks because they are not until tomorrow night, but she probably won't hear them because we live far into the country.
