How do you all like THIS one...
Little Miss Emmy is QUITE the rascal.
First, we had her kenneled in an airline style crate when we aren't home. However, she's almost chewed her way out, plus she's
escaped several times, and every day she moves her kennel down the hall a good 5-10 feet while we are gone.
So, then we put her in out big wire kennel (like 4.5'x3' or so) and had no problems.
But then Henry came, and so she had to go back to the airline crate since the big wire kennel is the only one large enough for Henry.
Well, she was still chewing....so we decided to get her a new wire kennel, but we got the slightly smaller kind, that is really doxie
appropriate size. We've used this same kind of kennel with all our other dogs, and it's never been a problem...
So, we put her in for about an hour and a half last night...when we come home, we find that she has managed to grab the drop pan with her teeth, and bend it upwards, and then somehow tiped the kennel enough
to slide it under the door. Then, she ROLLED the kennel over several times and climbed out through the bottom. It took my hubby and I some time to even figure out HOW she got out, as the slide in pan doesn't just come out when the door is closed. And, of course, when she got out, she chewed up the wires for our computer speakers, and the doggie blanket that covers the couch. How the HECK she figured out how to get outta this kennel (and, when I got home,. the door of the kennel was FIRMLY locked with the little slide bar as it should be)...and she had a blanket and toys and everything in there with her...
So, anyone have a guess how we are going to keep he quiet during her HW treatment when she's to be confined to a kennel?
My hubby (who has decided he MUST outsmart the little red dog) has now anchored her kennel to the cement floor using a mason drill and some sort of screws....and, he's also gotten a clip for the door, so that she can't figure out how to open it, as she will soon I am sure.
Heh, this doggie is a challenge...and, she's into EVERYTHING--the other day, she was trying to LICK my ravioli, right outta my bowl.
OY! Talk about one naughty little smart red dog. At the moment, she's crashed out on two big blankets in her newly immobilized kennel...
