You guys have got to see this: It's the French version of Dachsie.org! They even have a forum like ours, only quite primitive! (They need a French Jean!) The photos of the dogs are adorable! Check it out at www.monteckel.com. (http://www.monteckel.com.)

"Mon teckel" is "my dachshund" in French. A bientot!

Penny is just CRUSHED! Here she is, going to the mailbox daily (incl Sunday), waiting more or less patiently for her woodrat from Wotan, & nothing is ever there.

Now she reads here that he is spending all his Mom's money to send woodrats AND bones to those little French FiFis!

She just beat up her teddy bear then crawled into her blankie. How could Wo be so cruel?

http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif Oh that Wotan! He is such a lover! I'm sure that Owen will be brushing up on his doggy French when he finds the site too!

I've been lucky enough to visit France many times, and every time I have been there, I have seen dachsies dachsies dachsies! Mostly standards there--the French still consider them to be hunting dogs. The last time I was there, four years ago (boo hoo! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/crying.gif ), I picked up a copy of a French dog magazine that had a wirehair on the cover and a big feature article on dachshunds. It reported that a French dachshund had won the European field trials that year, beating out all kinds of spaniels, pointers, etc.

I got an e-mail this morning from one of the people who posts on their forum, and he said that he had visited our board and was impressed with its quality and "dynamism!" He also said he posts on another board with 150 members.

I just love the idea of people talking dachshund all over the world! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

<FONT face="Verdana"><FONT size="4"><FONT COLOR="Red">The last time I was in Paris I was mugged in the Louvre metro station by a band of gypsies! But I did see lots of dachsies there too - even more in Switzerland which was heaven.
Unfortunately my once good French has lapsed. Funny thing - being in France did NOT HELP it to rebound. Quel domage. I guess I needed more time, or else as Wotansmutti pointed out, I'm just a little too dense - like my dachsies

Oh but what fun - I'm going to try that site right now and I'll report back on my success.

<FONT COLOR="Yellow">Oh, Georgette, zut alors! Quel horreur dans le metro! I studied French for six years in junior high/high school and two years in college, and the first two times I went to France, I was just babbling away in French.

But over the years, my French has all but vanished. I left a message on the French board, but it was SO pathetic! It would be as if someone from the French forum had left a message here that read, </FONT c> Hello! Are I French mother of dachshunds! Me so happy to be among youse. Right here, we have a forum of dachshunds which talk about dachshunds. I send you best greetings of your American lovers. Of dachshunds.

Sad. Truly sad. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/kfrown.gif

Sonja, Wo has a "woodrat circle of love????" He's quite the man, isn't he? http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

Wienergal- what's Wienergal translated into French? I tried to learn French in college- but was a dismal failure. Interestingly enough ,I can read it somewhat.

Georgette, I went to Paris when I was 13-14. My mom turned me lose by myself and I ended up in the Louvre. Hmmmmm. That place must be where the criminals hang out watching for us innocent tourist types because this really wierd guy tried to pick me up then almost kidnapped me. I ditched him behind the Venus d'Milo and escaped out the back...

I could then observe this perv trying in vain to find me.... He was scarey!
Never got mugged though....

Ahhh, these wonderful memories a French dachsie site brings back!

Totally cool, but my 3 years of high school french classes have left my mind and I am now incapable of writing a french message to them. I could understand a little - saw a message on back pain and a message on stairs. I made my office mate (native of Belgium and standard poodle lover) come over and translate a few things for me.

Well my 2 years of High School French, 35 years ago doesn't cut it . . . most of it eludes me these days. Although I think I actually understood Georgette's message.

Pamela, your english translation of your message over there "cracked me up"! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif Thanks for the chuckle.

So do you think we'll see some new Dachsie friends from France? Sounds like fun.

Merci beauceau . . . A bientot

Sorry for my (poor) english.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/emb.gif
I am called Guillaume, I am 32 years old, married and daddy of a 4 year old girl.
I am manager in a company cars.
I manage a site devoted to the dachshunds since 1998. At the beginning, it was right a small site to present my two adorable long hairs dachshunds : Indiana and Lehti.
As I had more and more visitors and that there weren't French-speaking site devoted to this race, I decided, with the example of the many American sites, to develop my site intended exclusively for in love with the dachshunds.
Then, It became the firs tFrench-speaking site devoted to this marvellous race of dogs.
Thank you with all my friends coming from the other countries, and particularly of the United States for their many messages.
I will benefit from my next days of holidays to try to translate in English any pages of my site, in particular the galleries.
So don't hesitate to leave photographs of your dachshunds in the galleries of the Site in http://www.monteckel.com

Friendly from France.
Guillaume

This is so neat. How nice of Guillaume and how adorable the English. I'm still trying to track down my old French dictionary (or trying to remember to pick up a paperback) so that I don't disgrace us (me). Ms 2dogs puts us to shame, hmmm?

Bienvenu a Guillaume! Votre anglais est superieur a mon francais--les apologies ne sont pas necessaire!

OK, en englais maintenant! Guillaume, so nice that you have found us! I enjoyed the "Humor" section of your site, where people posted funny photos of their dachshunds. When I am in France and homesick for my two dachshunds, I am always running up to people who are walking their dachshunds and asking to pet them or take their pictures. Everyone has been very kind! In my photo albums I have many pictures of French dachsies!

I love the names of your dogs! Indiana--how unusual! Perhaps I should change the name of one of my dogs to "Gers!"

A bientot!

Zoot Alors!

When I read your post, Guillaume, it sounded like Mons. Poirot "talking". I'm jealous of everybodies French- but I can read it better than write or speak it! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/tongue.gif

Amy! ANOTHER CUTE photo of cousin Owen? My oh my!

Nice to see you again Guillaume. Hi to your family!

I am also green with envy over how many of you know French. My mother is french but I grew up speaking English, and any French I knew as a little one, I have sadly forgottenhttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/frown.gif

I loved the site, the doggies are adorable!

Amy , you are too talented with your postshttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/ksmile.gif How do you get the little cartoon in motion in there? Another cute pic of Owenhttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/facelick.gif
