If you are going anywhere for the holidays. Are you bringing your pups with you?

I'm cooking Thanksgiving at my house for the first time for my BF's family and my dad and uncle. Christmas day, I am just visiting people so Harley can stay home in his x-pen or I might bring him to my dad's and then crate him there for a few hours while we visit. BF is working christmas day!!! :crying:

I'm going to Germany for Christmas as every year. My babies will stay with my husband as furry little hostages to insure my return. I'm going to miss them horribly, but it is the better choice for them. I just hope the give up waiting for me in the kitchen pretty quick, because that's what they do now if I'm late coming home.

Having 3 kids, it's really hard for us to travel with airfares. Family is so spread out; parents in AZ, sister and hubby in IN, sister in GA, inlaws all over Canada. We tend to stay home on holidays and hope that people will (or will not - haha!!) visit us. Last year we had a housefull of 13, most of which were here for almost 2 weeks. Towards the end I was not a friendly person at all, I was like get out of my house!!! Alot to cook, clean and do laundry for! I think I missed most of Christmas day, don't remember anything my kids opened, it was just a zoo, but fun.

This year we have hubby's 2 sisters visiting over Thanksgiving. They are coming in from Montreal and Kelowna, BC. There will be 10 of us, but not all coming at the same time, everyone leaving at once. Oh, and there is the possibility of a total of 13 again if my sister shows up with her two kids. So far for Christmas, I have 1 of my sisters coming. My parents would like to but my mom can't travel without a flu shot so that is up in the air. There is the potential for 13 again over the holidays, but not sure yet.

It's always lots of fun and VERY noisy what with my kids, Buddy, all the people. My cats just sort of hide until it gets quiet again!

But hopefully in January or February we'll be taking the kids to Mexico. Charlie will likely stay with a friend.

All my family members are in Florida or New Jersey... with only a couple of days vacation left I am going to stay home and spend the holidays with friends this year... less stress that way too

Since, most of my family is in Colorado or within 10 minutes of me. I normally end up working. My government office is open 24/7 and someone has to be there. I would rather it be me than one of the ladies with young kids.
With that said, I did ask off for New Years to go to Loris.

We usually take ours with us when we can. However, this year I think I will have to leave them home.

Sandy, I hear ya about guests satying for too long. We have a saying in Russia. Happy time is when guests arrive and when they leave! Our secretary had her sis in law with her 8 kids stay with them for 6 months one time. And they have a small 3 bedroom/2 bath house. By the end of it, she was looking at moving out of her own house and renting!

`We drive to Albuquerque every christmas for a week. We take all the dogs. They are family so they go to see the in-laws. I am sure the in-laws would prefer we not take them but they are dog lovers so they have never really seemed to mind. I have great in-laws but I wish that we were closer (we are the only one's in the family not in Albq.) as I do not care for the travel part of the trip. Nor the part where my inlaws live on the side of a mountain with no fence. The dogs are not let out off lead. I know of at least one coyote family living nearby.

Zoe came for the 16 hour drive to Florida for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was such a good girl for the rides too!

Ponch has gone on all but one holiday trip with me. The only one I couldn't take him on was when I went to Vancouver and that was only because apparently dogs are not allowed on greyhounds :hissyfit:
