View Full Version : Baylea Wins The Bronze

Not wanting to upset our adoptee, I did not use the vac the first week we had Baylea.
(And what a great excuse that was!) http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif
We had no way of knowing what her reaction might be. The worst case scenario would be a repeat of the behavior exhibited by our Yorkie, years ago. Crumpet would charge the machine barking, "Kill the vac, kill the vac". Made for an interesting house cleaning experience.
To win the Gold, Baylea would have to remain on the couch and eventually fall asleep.
For the Silver, she would be allowed to follow machine and Mom around, out of curiosity.
There would be no points awarded for running from the room. And points _deducted_ if she exited before the cats!
I pushed the button and the machine whirred into high gear.
Baylea, rose from a sound sleep, stretched, hopped down from the couch, and with as much dignity as a mini dachshund can muster, walked into another room.
I thought, well if that don't beat all! Such stoicism. At that moment she was all the heroines of history rolled into one.
Not quite, as I discovered later.
It seems that once in the other room, she took a flying leap onto my husband's chair and attempted to bury herself behind his back.
How then did she win the Bronze, you ask? Simple, she earned many points for feigning bravery, additional points for knowing the safest place to hide.
If the truth be known; yes, the judge is completely biased!

Hey Jen:
Maybe you should post your mop information under "Toys, Toys and More Toys". Tader may be on to something. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Roxane!
Sounds like that Balea knows how to milk dad for the soft touch!
I got a kick out of the way you see dachsie's interactions with the "Floor Dragon" as rateable. Wotan doesn't get a prize- he charges, then feigns back, then runs about, finally sitting more tired than upset.
I think he's realized I can't suck him up in there no matter how dusty he is. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

In the "vacuum vein", my 2 will NOT let me run the polaris that vacuums the pool. You wouldn't believe how I have to sneak around to let it run. They pull it out of the water & chew it up. Usually they win.

Hi Sonja and Georgette:
One of the things I _love_ about communicating with board members are all the giggles and sometimes explosive laughs that the posts generate. Whether relating your puppers' behavior or your take on what they are doing, often it comes out as very, very funny.
(expensive too, ie pool piping)
I have come to the personal conclusion that one attribute necessary for dachshund ownership is a sense of humor.
It also balances the more serious concerns of health problems, training and certainly the loss of beloved pets.
Let's hear it for "keeping it light",

OK Roxanne then picture this:
We're three adult women in our house with the 2 little ones. Lately they love to plop on the sofa in front of the large 1-pane picture window. I always notice how totally clearly anyone can see into our living room.
All right, scene set. Now have these 3 women come marching into the living room clapping and singing, "Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to....(whatever the current dog task is).
The puppies love it but of course it's all the more funny imagining what the neighbors are thinking. (Well only a few have moved lately). http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/rolleyes.gifhttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/kiss.gifhttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Mickey LOVES the vaccuum and the broom and the mop. They are VERY fascinating to him. He chases them around, barks at them, tries to bite them. I try my darndest to finish sweeping the kitchen floor, then I agree to play the "Broom Game". The broom game consists of me either sitting on the floor with the broom, teasing him, or, me chasing him around the house with the broom, like it's going to get him. I've got some pictures of him doing it, I just have to get them scanned so I can share them with you all.

That did it Georgette, you've appealed to my sense of theatre.
You did a great job setting the scene; picture window, 2 dachsies, 3 women.
Pamela will be head of costumes, so you know that all three of you will be dressed alike!
Props feels that when you enter singing,"Hi, ho, hi, ho", you need to be carrying mini pooper scoopers on your shoulders.
I believe we need to audition one more dog. Then we will have 3 women, 3 dogs.
Now if there is anything worse than a stage mother, it is a dachshund stage mother/father. So, to all of you bringing your dogs (w/resumes and head shots) please behave. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/wink.gif
Any of you with potential dachsie stars, please get in touch with Georgette. After all, she did start this whole thing. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif
Oh, and Karen, if you come don't forget the broom.

OOOOOOH!
I LIKE this theatre of the mini-hounds idea.
What a chuckle: three twin women, carrying poopers singning "Hi-Hoooooooo" http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/silly.gif
Wotan wants to audition for the antagonist-
He could put on a long black mustache and make rolling eyes at the fine women. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/kiss.gif
His background includes chasing and catching varmints of all sizes; barking ferociously at the wind and birds; chasing the waterhose while it's on(bravery).
He is VERY photogenic. Like Alan Ladd, Wo is a bit on the short side- but if he were teamed up with a big, buxom gal, like Peaches Marie- he could always stand on a footstool while gazing into her eyes http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/dizzy.gif
Er-Roxane, what is the plot?

Roxane, you're so right, we DOneed another dachsie.
Wotan, and how do you know that Miss Peaches Marie is so very buxom??? What are her measurements??? Gabby is a curvacious 17X17X17! Can Peaches compete with that?
I'm still waiting for the guys to get a glimpse of Becky Ann. All of the girls mights as well move to the grounds of a convent.

Oh my, Sonja:
Wotan twirling a mustache? Is there no end to his talent?
Georgette, you get back here right away. Now they want a plot. I thought we'd just let them wing it!
Before you know it the stage will be littered with woodrats and the crew will have a fit.

Hubba Hubba!
Let's have a Miz Dachsie constest: bathing suit, evening wear, clothing for that horrible wet season, and a speech on "Why I Should Be The Next Marilyn Dog-roe."
Oh Miz Gabby! I do so apologize- Yes, you girls must submit all your seductive dachsie faces to me...http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/love.gif
There is room in my heart for allllllll!
(Wo's never been "fixed" so he gets a bit carried away when the subject of beauties gets brought up! - S.)
Georgette! We really do need a plot besides the singing look alike women and the 3 daches sitting by the window... I mean, what motivation for window sitting DO those little dogs have? Why the window and not the kitchen table???
Hmmmmm. Get you sisters involved in this one.

Georgette, where are you when I need you? Now Sonja is talking about _motivation_. Insinuating that Wotan is a method actor dachshund. Seems she knows more about this subject than I would have suspected. Hmmm?
Since we are so far from the original Baylea/vac subject I believe I will post under a new section. Look for "Casting Call" in Miscellaneous. Now remember, this is Georgette's show. I am only a consultant. Any final decisions rest with her, her sisters and her puppers.

Oh my yes let's work on the drama but Roxanne made a little typo in her last message. She meant to say that she, Roxanne herselfhttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/cool.gifis the director in charge of creative decisions and georgetteis the consultant. FYI Wotansmutti (Sonjah)is the producer and a very opinionated one at that.
Now in my capacity as consultant, what about that plot? Perhaps each scene could be a dachsie version of a musical? I'm afraid that Wo is too much of a charmer to play the villain - he'll need to be the frog who gets kissed - um, Gabby wants to know if Wo has firm lips.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/kiss.gif
Baylea, Greta, and Gabby can be back-up Supremes, but who will play Diana Ross?
As for the guys, Wotan, Micky, and ??will be The Three Irish Tenors. Oh, and maybe the Andre Boccelli look-alike can sing with them!
http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/think.gif
As you see, like a true dachshund I have trouble with boundaries. Incidentally don't worry about all the rats and such strewn about the stage - the dachsies'll enjoy them at the cast party afterwards.

Here we still are at Casting Callfor juicy parts.
Wotan would love to sing- he's been practicing with me. He can howl to Moonriver really well...http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/silly.gif
Though, because of his name, he is partial to Wagnarian Opera. He could do a 15 min. rendition of the Ring Cycle. Who needs 4 days anyway?
Gabby doesn't have to worry- Wo's lips are firm and he has lovely breath ( if he doesn't yawn on you after a loooong nap)http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/kiss.gif
Roxane will be thrilled to find out she's been promoted. Hahaha. I'd still like to keep the 3 identical ladies singing "Hi-Ho" with their pooper scoopers. It just lends something to that Disney feeling...http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/hapfac01.gif

Ok, can Mickey join??? He and I were talking last night and he came up with a good idea...If we're going on the musicals theme, he wants to do an adaptation of Oklahoma. Imagine this....He'll get dressed up in western duds, with a cowboy hat, chaps, and a piece of straw hanging out of his mouth. He'll sing the theme song....(yes, sing it to yourself) "Mick-lahoma, where the meat blows whipping down the plain"
Or, maybe we could do a variety show, like the Muppet Show. We'd need an emcee, like Kermit. Of course, he could have a girlfriend, like Miss Piggy. Mickey would want to be Fozzy Bear though. He could get one of those soft form hats and tell really bad jokes. "How ay ya, how ay ya, how ay ya!" http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/silly.gif
Just suggestions though. Mickey would definitely like to have a part in the production however. I think he'll do whatever it takes for a chance at his "big break" http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/cool.gif

Okay Gals:
Within the next hour we will switch to Misc. under Casting Call.
Husband needs to fax some business material.
He just doesn't seem to understand he is getting in the way of a great artistic endeavor.
The first all Triplet, all Dachshund (since you insist) Musical.
Be thinking, we need a Title.
Director by default,

Hey, Georgette! Just one more post over here to point out that, while I'm sure the 17X17X17 Gabby is as cute as a button, Miss Peaches Marie has a VERY big chest. It is so big that if she runs really fast, across a field or something, eventually, her chest will trip her up and she'll start to roll.
How do you think she got herself elected prom queen??? http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/silly.gif
