Greetings, all! Had to tell the dachsie people about Oscar's acting debut.
My work always puts on a Christmas program with skits, singing, Santa, etc., during the holidays. My department this year came up with a skit of "The Grinch", so of course I volunteered Oscar to be "Max" and me as "The Grinch". He even already had little antlers and everything. We were breaking new ground using an animal actor... never been done at my work before.
When it was time to do our skit, we made our entrance and everyone clapped (we were in a auditorium with about 200 people, so it was a totally new situation for him). I thought it would scare him but he didn't even flinch.
All of my fellow co-workers were the Who's "sleeping" on the stage and we were supposed to go around gathering up all the candy and toys. I had Oscar on his flexi (didn't want him investigating the junk behind the stage rather than helping me) and he sniffed everyone, tied up one lady's legs with the leash, and had me circling the chair trying to get him while everyone was laughing hysterically. Then, I gave him a stuffed animal to carry and he carried it off the stage like a pro, and got his own standing ovation! Anyway, it was such fun to have everyone asking me how in the world I had trained my dog so well. I didn't want to spoil it by saying he just does that when he plays with his stuffed toys with me, so I just said, "Oh, we work together every day. He's such a smart dog."
Maybe I need to call an agent...
