Male or female? How old of a person? Gag gift or serious gift? We'll help but we need a bit more information.

Well you said gifts...so I'm guessing it's for more than one person.

If you have a Costco membership they have some really nice snow globes (in multi packs) & Christmas ornaments (again multi pack) that when broken down in price will be about $4.50 each (now that's in Canada, so I have no idea about where you are). As well, I was just shopping in the States last weekend and Big Lots had tons of stuff under $5.00 Candy dishes, Vases, Writting paper, etc.

I've received Journals that I've loved, I LOVE Bath & Body Works soaps etc and I think they are 3 for $10, so you can buy Christmas smelling soaps or creams etc. Candles are always great too.

Now if it's for a guy...sorry, you'll have to ask one of the boys on the board, I have NO idea!

Hope there are one or two ideas in there that will help with who you are shopping for!

Good Luck

Depending on the age and / or eating habits, McD's and other fast food places have gift certificates. I thought this was cheesy at first but my best friend actually REQUESTED this (she's addicted to McD's coke). Then I decided to try it out on my nephew and a few other "younger" people that I try to get gifts for. They loved it. For older or more "sophisticated" palates, you could get chocolates. They even have boxed sugar free chocolates for those who are dieting or diabetic. Can't go wrong w/chocolate.

I have no clue who will be getting the presents. So I guess food items are good. If not, I will just get some Starbucks gift card. Not very creative, but usually well liked...at least I do. :D

You can't go wrong with gift cards- it's like giving people free money.

Just be sure it's to some place that they can get something for $5. Like you said Starbucks is good- as long as they like coffee. I like giving Blockbuster cards-everybody rents movies- and that way you don't have to worry about whether or not they're allergic, on a diet, etc...

Or, you could always donate the money to charity and give them a card telling them that the money was given in their honor. (Probably not the most popular gift, but always a thoughtful one.)

I love food gifts myself. If you want to get creative, buy a colored pasta and a small specialty oil of some kind in a cute bottle and wrap it with cellophane and a big bow and voila! Gift to go under $5. Sometimes it's the presentation that counts and it's good for guy or girl. Chocolates are a favorite too, tiny boxes and put together in a cute container. One year when my daughter was in College, she made some fudge and peanut brittle and sugar cookies. She bought cute tins at the dollar store and gave this homemade gift to all of her friends. Cost pennies to make.

Gifts under $5.......Dollar stores are good for that!
I just love Dollar stores!!! Also the coffee gift certificates are nice Starbucks or Tim Hortons.
OR

You can buy some nice fancy tins and make Rice Krispie Squares to put in them. Or any home baked goodie(s)
Most people like Home baked stuff!

Oh, Janet gave me an idea!

I did this for Christmas one year- Cookies in a Jar (http://www.cookieinajar.com/)

Get some Mason jars and layer the dry cookie ingredients like you would sand art. Then top it with some cloth or ribbon. Very quick and easy.

Carpet Gator THANKS for that link! I am so thrilled, you see I bought some brownies in a jar at the last Christmas craft table I went to to give as gifts! I just thought they were the coolest things and I knew some people who would be thrilled with dumping a jar in a bowl and adding an egg or something and presto FOOD FOR THE SOUL. :D

All they did what put gaily colored paper on the lids attached with a bow and directions. So cute and so practical.

I just got a gift from the neighbor oookies in a jar. Last year she gave pea soup in a jar. Great ideas. How good are you with the computer. I made small note cards last year, with pictures. I used pictures of the area where we live. The woman who got my was so happy, because on of the pictures was a pond she walked by everyday which she loved. In fact she was going to get a little frame and save it. I wrapped it with a real pretty ribbon.
