View Full Version : Frito feet are back
Dukey's Mom

Hi!
I had to bring this back. We had a very Frito experience this morning. I get up early for work and all the kids get up a few minutes later and get shoved out the doggydoor to hopefully do their business outside.
Meanwhile Dukey is still under the covers sawing wood. I went to wake him up this morning and to give him a kiss and OMG, I think he has been saving it up, or he needs a bath, one of the two. Strongest Frito smell ever! Worse than the last one I wrote about!
Made me laugh at all our Frito feet stories though...so any takers?

Lucky you. I've only had the snack size. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/facelick.gif but I'll take what I can get.

Time to clue in the silly Brit.... What are fritos? Are they like Doritos? We want to play too but have nothing to compare.... I have a bag of Marks and Spencer tortilla chips which I shall carefully sniff and compare with Shelbie's feet this evening - all in the name of science of course!!

Hi Shelbie,
Fritos are corn chips and they have this wonderful aroma about them when you open up a fresh bag. Not only does Willi also have "Frito Feeties" but he LOVES to eat Fritos as well. It only makes sense
Call me crazy but.....
go to www.fritolay.com (http://www.fritolay.com) and at the top of the page beside the "company info" button is a picture of a Frito.
Hope this helps

Owen's Mom
08-31-2000, 10:28 AM
Here's a bitter-sweet Frito Feet story...
Monday night, Owen went to his girlfriend's house for a sleep over, as I was at a Pharma Conference here in San Diego and wouldn't be home before 10 pm. So, I came home to an empty house. In my mailbox, I found a note saying that a very special lady from down the street had passed away the night before. Lois was the dearest woman I've ever known. She rescued greyhounds and was always out walking with Jeffrey and giving treats to the neighborhood dogs and making sure the feral cats had food. Owen would stand under Jeffrey, waiting for crumbs to fall so that he could snarf them up. Lois was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer about 6-8 weeks ago. She was back on the street two weeks later, looking wonderful, treats in hand. It seems that the cancer was very aggressive and went to her lungs, taking her from us very quickly. I'm happy that she didn't suffer a prolonged, painful battle with cancer... But, I will miss her greatly. The hounds will be returned to rescue, as her surviving husband isn't exactly known as a sweet man, and would never do them justice. Lois was in her early 70's.
After reading that Lois had passed, I wanted my little Owen to curl up with, alas he was sleeping at Sophie's house. So, I burried my nose in the couch blanket and took in the residual frito fumes and found great comfort in them. What would I do without my Owen and his comforting Frito feet?

Amy,
I can so relate to what you are saying. I might have told the story before so overlook me if I have. When I had a miscarriage about 2 years ago, I felt very comforted snuggling next to my Punkin and inhaling the frito fumes. She was a great comfort to me and while Josie has a little frito smell, I really miss the VERY fritoey smell of Punkin.

Our smooth black and tan standard Fritz has corn chip feet. We thought it was so cool, when we all decided that is what it is. Now really when he goes pee pee I think he steps in it. Would that have something to do with it? Maybe not. Our mini long haired red dachshie just plain smell like a chicken coop on her forehead. Now I know what a chicken coop smells like because I grew up on a farm that had a 2 story chicken house. Wow those were the good old days. But, now I have dachshies. We used to have Registered labs. they are a love too. Maybe someday again???? No too big. Going for the smaller maybe tiny, toy dachshund!!!

Jen? Have you tried sniffing their armpits? No, seriously! No need to be shy! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/blushie.gif Some Dachsies ooze the Frito smell on different parts of their bodies. Stop laughing! I'm serious. Isobel has Frito Feet and a bit under her arms, and her head smells like "clean" cedar shavings . . don't understand that one, but, hey if it's a part of her I love it.
Don't be upset or think you've been jipped http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/disgust.gif just sniff around (preferably in the privacy of your room . . . with the blinds drawn) and you may find a Frito treasure.

OMG my dogs are outcast what can i do to give them the frito odor!?! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/think.gif Any ideas?

I get the frito blast at its strongest after a dachsie nap under a warm blankie...Just catch them still asleep -stick your head under the blankie and inhale deeply. See if that doesn't yield some frito scent. The more toasty warm dachsies -the more pungent the scent.

09-04-2000, 11:12 AM
Jen,
I agree with Krista. Stuff Sassie under a blankie and allow her to ferment for a while and perhaps you can accelerate the Frito odor. Keep trying and don't give up. Please do not feel like your pups will be treated as lepers . . . just remember that you have a variety of smells to draw upon whatever your mood. That's something to be thankful for . . .not ashamed of!

ok, we can go to a mall, set up a stand and invite people for a smell test. Blind fold them and have them sniff what is under blanket number one ( a doxie ). Then we hide a bag of fritos under the second blanket. If blanket number one does not give them a big wet kiss I am sure 9 out of 10 people would prefer the delightful aroma of frito feet over the real thing!

Just one problem with my Lil Sassie shes not into the under the blanket thing maybe thats why her Frito aroma isnt stronger...LOL or perhaps i bathe them too much i have heard that this could be the reason ... They have a bath about once a month except for Winston who has one twice a month because hes a longhair and tends to gather dirt ... occasionally its more often if they roll in something icky (which they tend to like to do very much) You think this could be the problem?

You're so right about the dachsies smelling like Fritto's. I was sleeping the other morning when my hub layed my sleepy Sadie beside me and the aroma jolted me awake like folgers coffee... all i could think was "they're right, she does smell like fritto's". The hub agrees... he made a really corny joke tonight about the next dachsie we get we should name fritto... that way when we teach him commands we can say "fritto - lay". All I can say from by viewpoint is I love the way all my smooth coated (not the longhairs)dachsies have smelled on their chests and front paws. I have always said there is NOTHING in the world that compares to the smell of a warm weenie dog. It wasn't until I got to this board that I realized it was the Frito smell. I have had Dachsies all of my life, and all of my life I have been smelling them, especially in the warm places. God I can start at one end and work my way at least halfway to the other end! I never smelled their Feet until I got Freddie. You know how when you give a baby a bath and you just have to kiss their feet while you are getting them dressed. Well I used to do Freddie's exercises and before you know it i am kissing his feet like he is a baby then I get to sniffing and OMG Fritos! So then it became an intoxicating ritual, I swear this is part of the Dachsie Addiction and should definately be part of the 12 step program for Dachsaholics. I definately think the smooths reek more than any other coat and well I don't know but my reds seem to reek the most. Just my observation but perhaps they have always been more of the burrowers of my house. What can i say i am definately addicted to Dachshunds!

I love this time of year... the air outside is crisp, the smell of fireplaces burning in the neighborhood, the leaves are turning brown... and the very, very best part of fall is the return of Frito Feet!!!
I don't know about ya'll, but Rooby doesn't get real frito-ee during the summer months. Once it starts cooling off and she starts snuggling more, BAM! - frito feet, frito neck, frito pits, and frito chest!! Big time!! My Rooby is the frito-est weiner around. I'm starting to wonder though... if I'm hanging around her while she's frito-ee, then I leave to go somewhere... will I carry the frito scent with me? I bet I do... people probably think, 'hmmm, she smells like a weiner dog'...
