After reading the posting "Annie stops to smell the flowers" I had a sudden rush of memories of how taken Frank was with the first dandelion puffs he saw last spring. He was six months old when I got him last April so the spring time dandelions were the first he had ever seen. At first he would walk up to one and sniff it occasionally inhaling some of the seeds. He then progressed to moving up close to one then exhaling sending the seeds scattering. When that got old he would try to sneak up on one and bite it.
I also remember how Aggie my very shy mill mother rescue who came to me in May of 1998 was so very scarred of the first few dandelion puffs she saw. She had just turned two when I got her but it was obvious she had never seen a dandelion before that spring. I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised at that since I had to work with her when I first got her to get her over her fears of walking in the grass.
All of you out there with new pups who are experiencing their first summer will have to tell us your stories of how they discover the world we take for granted.
