will trudge a creek anytime!!! We investigated a new creek walk this weekend and there was a place or two where they could get up close and personal to the water. Those silly hounds wasted no time getting their paws wet. It was a warm day in the 90's so cooling off the tootsies probably felt good!! The next day we went to our regular rompin' park and someone had dumped an ice chest of.....what else but ICE. They LOVED it and kept standing right in it!

I ahve this theory- Dachsies only like water, in it's many forms, if they can contol it. For example: Wotan loves getting drenched by the water hose as he's trying to bite it. He's absolutely sopping! Though if one, and I mean one drop of rain should fall on his sacred brow- eeeeek! Run for the door and hide under the blankeeeee....

One very stormy night Baylea confided the following with the promise I would keep her secret but...
It seems many eons ago the breed Dachshund was a very tall dog.
However, during the ice age, when all that stuff was melting, having no shelter they were exposed to a lot of water.
As a result things happened to change not only their stature but also their coats.
The ones who had gotten the very wettest, shrunk the most and ended up being what we call Minis.
As for their coats, those who were able to roll in lush grass managed to smooth and polish themselves dry but in doing so lost their long hair.
Some who retained the longer hair were exposed to cyclonic activity in the air. The whirling downdrafts caused a texturing we now call Wirehair.
Regardless of which type or size of Dachshund you may own all of them have been warned, through the ages, to avoid rain (and baths) if at all possible.
They have been told the survival of their breed depends upon that. Any further shrinkage and they will disappear altogether.
Is this true? You will have to ask Baylea but I have never known a dog to lie! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

Timber is the same way. He doesn't like baths but enjoyed it when my brother was squirting him with his super soaker (after a while he was trying to hide from the water). Timber also wouldn't dare to step his fritos in a puddle, either!

Great story Baylea- I'll bet mom swallowed that one right up...
Did'ja get a goodie after whopping that one on her?She even posted it for all the other silly dachsie parents out here in the world, and they think it's true, also!
Wotan has the first bridge dachsies ever built (after the big flood, of course), and will be willing to sell it for a pitance. It a happens to be in Brooklyn...

Oh, Sonja, I am so sorry. I didn't realize that it was Wo that Baylea sold to the bridge to last year! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/emb.gif
I'd be happy to refund his money but she has already spent it. She bought Greta a string of pearls like Lili's and earrings for herself just like Shelbie has.
I'll find a way to make it up to you. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/wavey.gif

Someone mention me, darlings?!! I love to have a bath. Sometimes when I've got cold and wet going for a walk I rush straight into the bathroom and stand by the bath looking hopeful! My Mum puts a tiny, tiny squirt of her Aveda Energizing shower gel in the water and I could paddle around in it for ages, then after a good rinse I'm all soft and fluffy, smell divine and am ready to meet my public!

Roxane,
The story I got from Wo was that Miss Baylea (under the representation of a mysterious feline in giant sunglasses) talked him into buying a giant brigde so he could stand on top and look straight down on his bone yard.
After he had the hen-slaves install it for him in the front yard, he realized he couldn't see those bones at all! In fact- even his mother (waving frantically) was a mere speck half a mile underneath him. He did like the pidgeon chasing...
I made him dismantle the thing and now it sits (all five zillion pieces) idle in my closet. Baylea should sell all her jewels and refund or Wotan might be forced to take her to Animal Court with Judge Wopner- OR Judge Judy! Eeeeek!
She'll have to cut up her credit cards to Petco and start selling dog cookies on street corners... No more stretch limo... Champangne traded in for kool-aide... and finally Mom will have to give her facials.Spas will be tooo expensive!
Do you want the summons to go to that cat in the sunglasses?
Big sigh at Dachsie greed... Sonja

Sonja,
What ever you do, do NOT....I repeat....do NOT open that closet door. It would surely be the end.

I have heard of people having skeleons in their family closet but a bridge...!
Baylea could care less about Judges Wopner and Judy. She knows they are not AKC Judges so she said she doesn't give a fig.
She does suggest that Wo call 1-800-Contact for a heavy duty prescription that will permit him, "On A Clear Day", to see forever.
In the meantime, she is entertaining the idea of a plea bargin that would involve sending Wo some major size bones. She has been eyeing the limbs of our UPS driver.
The last I saw of her she was headed out the door sporting a large fluffy tail, sun glasses and a whole lot of pearl jewelery.
I believe she is going abroad to visit Shelbie because the last thing she said, as she left, was "Ta ta".

That figures-Mistress B. heading for London to play the Queen. With Dame Shelbie, not less...
Wotan started to meld all those bridge tressles together the moment I mentioned a garage sale of enormous proportions...or the junkyard! He's sporting his dark goggles now and is muttering about a super-dupper gigantic awesome bigger than anything in this county woodrat trap! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/rolleyes.gif
IF this thing works Roxane- I will send you a few of these ill gotten woodies to share with Miss B and that gigantic mysterious feline who started this whole thing!
Viva London! Watch your remaining bridges...

You actually LIKE baths, Shelbie?
But they take our wonderful frito smell away!

I love having a bath Timber - honest I do, it may take away the Frito smell but I do smell of "soggy doggy" for a while so its worth it!
Now then, about these bridges. Please feel free to take the new pedestrian one that goes over to the Tate Modern (as long as you don't suffer from motion sickness - its a tad wobbly!)or, even better than a horrible old bridge, how about an empty dome shaped, unheated building, only just over a year old, needs some work =£5 million - or nearest offer?! serious offers only please to Dame Shelbie, c/o the 'spensive earring cabinets, Harrods Jewellery Dept, Knightsbridge - thank you
