Hi again,

I posted here for the first time a few days ago, my dog Ellie had back surgery and I was wondering what people found was the time-frame for seeing improvement.

It was so nice to hear from so many people that had gone through it, and I also heard from many people that were just beginning the experience as I was.

So I thought I'd share the advancements Ellie seems to have made so far, so maybe I can help the next person who comes to this board worried about their pet. I'm sure every experience is a little different, and it really helped me to see the courses many of you took when dealing with your pets injuries.

So, today (Tuesday) was one week and one day after her back surgery. She had been peeing on her own for about 5 days, and has been really good about going outside, which suprised me, I was expecting her to just go in the cage whenever she had too. I even bought a TON of those cage diapers, but haven't really used many. She HAS however not had a bowel movement outside for some reason, she only does that in the cage, and since she can't lift her hind end it's always very messy.

At any rate, I was encouraged today that when I lifter her out of the cage I noted she tensed up her hind legs, I could feel them pressing lightly on my hand which was under her belly. They went limp immediatly, and still are not being used at all, but I took it as a good sign regardless.

I'm hoping that before she has her stitches out next Wednesday she'll be atleast trying to stand.

Thanks again for all the "rays" everyone has been sending her! I can't tell you how helpful this site has been to me!

Hey guys,

Your rays must be magic because Ellie is making a startlingly fast recovery!

I dont' want to jinx it, but only 11 days after surgery she's starting to stretch her legs, and she's actually able to support herself for a very short time. When I bring her in from going outside to releive herself she will stand in her cage for a short while before sitting down!!! WOO HOO! What a relief!

Thanks again for the rays! THEY WORK I TELL YA!
