Mine are not crazy about them-
Rocky will play more than the other two-
He loves his little tennis ball and at times will play with stuffed ones- not much
Does yours play with toys?
If so what type are their favorite?
How old are they?

Pixel LOVES his little stuffed hippo from Walmart. He will suckle it, chase it and ultimately de-stuff it (good thing they're cheap). Pixel is about 14 months. Pogo has never really been into toys (he'll be 4 in May), he'll chase it about 3 times, than he's out.

Napoleon's favorite toy is whichever one Brooklyn's playing with!! They both love long ones - wiener dog, snake - that they can play tug-of-war with. Besides that, he loves his Kong, because it's usually filled with yummy goodies. But he has a ton of toys and loves them all. He hasn't done this in a while, but he used to take every toy out of his toy basket one by one. It was pretty cute!

Everyone plays with toys. Will'em collects them, destuffs them, and protects them, Tess likes to play with anything that Will'em does not have... Lucy is into balls or squeekies, Diva will take anything Will'em has and Buster also collects them. They have not met a toy them don't like! Ages are 1.5-6. Kibby will take a toy and try to pluck it or protect it and she is probably 12.

Casey loves his toys! Especially the walmart hippo which is orange and has no eyes. We bought him another toy from Walmart before Christmas It looks like a raccoon, it has an orange tummy it's face is yellow, it used to have a tuft of white hair on top of it's head. It's almost as big as Casey.
Casey really, really loves this raccoon. If you recall in my previous posts that he used to hump the orange hippo ( we named it humpy)
Well, Now it's the raccoons turn. He humps it daily! Last night while humping the raccoon well........Let's say that Casey completed the task! I was grossed out and asked Hubby to pick up the violated and wet raccoon and put it in the washing machine. I called the vet this morning to ask when is the earliest time to get Casey neutered. I have to wait until Feb, as Casey will be 6 months old then.
Raccoon has been washed, while Casey whined by the washing machine.
My husband still laughs at me for getting so grossed out. I know it's a thing that male dogs do, but C'mon he violated the toy and then.....well, you know.

Only three of mine will play with toys...
Gidget likes everything- balls, stuffies, tug toys
Buddy likes things that are fuzzy or hairy
Molly loves to destuff a stuffy- especially if it squeaks. The first thing she does is rip out it's squeaker.
But, Mack is so stoic. I've tried to get him to play, chase a ball-- something... He just looks at me like I'm stupid. Although I have caught him a couple of times sniffing the other dogs' toys and pick them up like he was wondering what all of the fuss was about. The only way I can get him to play is with the laser pointer.

I know it's a thing that male dogs do, but C'mon he violated the toy and then.....well, you know. But, did he call the raccoon in the morning??:rofl:...wait, I got one more...so when Casey plays with his toys, he really PLAYS with his toys
I can honestly say, I'm with you....I'd be grossed out as well (even though it is normal- yuk)!!

would probably like to have a few stuffies around, but due to Kamper master of 3 second destruction, we cannot.
So, I buy the teething rings at walmart. They are like 4 or 5 bucks and last quite a while.

Mine are very good about not destroying their toys.. Bart has his favorite (a Dr Noys chipmunk) that he guards from the others.
There is a big wicker basket in the family room that I put their toys in when I get tired of them being all over the place... I think Badgers favorite game is taking them all out of the basket until it is empty again.... silly boy

If someone would have told me 11 months ago that I would have a large basket of gutted, de-stuffed toys sitting in the middle of my living room I would have laughed myself silly. They - whom I must obey :bowing2:- need a larger basket for their toys, or I need a larger livingroom!
They play with anything they can get their little fur covered feet on. Mitchs' favorite thing is plastic grocery bags :um: he will root through the bags as we are unpacking the groceries (toy check!) then he will snatch the empty bag and run as fast as he can down the hall. I don't know what goes on in that boys head!

Dexter loves toys. He has a soft squeeky bone from Old Navy which is #1, but recently has learned that he can rip stuffing out of his stuffed toys (ugh) what a mess, and he loves playing with tennis balls that have the outside loose so he can throw it in the air.

Harley loves anything he can de-stuff! If he can pull the stuffing out fast the better the toys are! Afterwards, he will still play with them until we throw them out or he completely shreds them.
As for squeaky toys, he absolutely loves them. The easier it squeaks, the more he loves it. He a squeaky Harley Davidson tire that he has had since day 1. He will sit and squeak it for ever and then beat us with it when he shakes his head back and forth. It's starting to look like the trashmen must take it but I can't find another one. Must do an ebay search today for one!
He also like nylabones and his kong stuffed with treats and natural peanut butter.

Tasha doesn't destuff, but she's the queen of defuzzing. Lots of denuded plush toys at our place. I tried a "washcloth" toy once, that one she did chew thru, in like 2 min, and started to destuff. But it was the only time. She loves anything plush, and a weird favorite is to attack and destroy empty toilet paper rolls. A cheap toy, but messy.
She just can't understand why she can't have toys anymore--it will be a long month till the vet allows her full motion again!

and I too have a large basket filled with toys in the family room. It's so cute when after I've put all the toys away how Mitzi will go though it and find one she is looking for. She is so funny because she knows which one it is and won't take any others in it's place.
Mitzi's favorite toy is anything new other then her all time favorite "Red Bear" which is really a purple bear because Dudley chewed the nose off the org. red bear.
Dudley's favorite when I let him have it is his green and yellow squeaky ball. But, he cannot have it to often because he gets obsessed with it and get all mean when it's time to put it away. His next favorite toy is a plastic Garfield with fur on the body of it. This was Mitzi's favorite toy for a long time too. I got it on clearance from a PetSmart a long time ago and wish I could find another one because Dudley is slowing getting the fur off of it.

I sure enjoyed reading everyone's replies on how their dachsies play. I haven't posted here for a long time but finally found a minute to drop in. My girls, Dolly and Madison have PDD Play Deficit Disorder. They say BALLS ARE FOR BOYS and STUFFIES DO NOT BEFIT PRINCESSES. I wish I could really rile them up with a good game of tug a war but not a chance. They'd much rather use their tongues to lick their mommy or papa to death than to bother with a squeekie. They're the sweetest little hooligans but toys are just not their thing. Now MARROW BONES are another story! YUM!

Heidi plays fetch with a tennis ball, and a plush orange bone I got at Walmart. She also LOVES a pink plush bear that her breeder sent with her. She loves to play fetch. And of course she loves ANY toy that belongs to my 5 year old son that she isn't supposed to have! My son has picked up his toys a lot better since Heidi came! :appl:

Haley has so many toys that you would think there was a toddler in the house.
She also has a toy box in the living room and will pick through it for just the right toy. This means all of the "wrong" ones are all over the living room floor! :dizzy:
She likes to try to pull the fuzz off of the toys or any kind of appendage that it might have. like a nose, hair, perhaps a belt. I've had to alter the toys before giving them to her for this reason. Apparently toys are made with dachshunds in mind!
As for her favorite, it's usually whichever one has the loudest squeaker! Boy, that can get annoying! She has a purple toy that I got in a sack of toys from Wal-mart a couple of years ago that is very loud. Naturally she loves it. Silly girl.
She does not like hard toys. I bought her a Wiggly-Giggly ball several years ago. I figured she would love it. I was very wrong. My little pumpkin thought I was crazy for even buying the thing. Had to send it back for a refund. She does love her Kong though. The difference being, of course, there is always food in the Kong!!! :D

We couldn't get Oliver to play with toys for the longest time. He would just put them (hide) in his bed and sleep on them. I think he was just depressed poor guy. Now, he plays with his toys at least once a day, throws his stuffed pink pig around and jumps on it (gift from his foster mom), shows Mr. Teddy who's the boss and, shakes his now destuffed, devoiced, tail-less beaver a couple of times. Everything else I've bought him has gone to toy heaven. Laser tag has become his winter indoor sport. His very favorite though is playing soccer. If you want to see pure doxie joy, come see Oliver playing soccer. He can manoeuvre that ball like a pro barking up a storm the whole time.

Who win when they play tug? :D
Gigi looooooooooooooves her kong, but she only gets it when I have to leave her alone at home. She even do a "dance" when I asked "Do you want a kong?" :D She also play with her blue bone, her squeaky shark and some other stuffed squeaky toy.

Toys? TOYS? Our kitchen is littered with them! A half dozen types of Kongs, plush toys, squeaky toys, stuffed animals, balls, Air Dog toys, Goofballs, old towels (even the dish towel when he can snatch it) he loves them all! The biggest game is "fetch" - throw [fill in toy name here] across the room he runs it down and brings it back to you. Then he rolls over and you rub his belly 'til he lets go of it and you can start over again. Oh and don't bother putting them away 'cause he just goes and gets them all right back out again! .

My guys don't play with toys at all. Bailey will chew the stuffing out of an occasional animal (my mom insists on giving them to him), but other than this, they both just ignore them.
However, we do buy nylabones in bulk. At any given time, they must have 6-8 in each room in various states of chewed, because sometimes we MUST chew new ones, other times nothing but the mostly chewed will do. And then they switch. They will chew nylabones for hours on end.

Gunner has a toy box in the kitchen and picks his favorit ones, he has a few that he doesn't tear up put he destuffs a lot of them and if their vinyl tears them up. His new hedgehog that he got for x-mas was torn in about 10 min.

Lilly, who is about 16 weeks old, LOVES toys. She plays with anything she can get her little mouth on. Her favorite toys are the stuffed squeeky toys, but she also likes to play with anything that doesn't belong to her!
Taffy likes toys, but in general won't play with them unless she is playing with another dog. She will play tug of war with the other dogs and will steal their toys and run away....but she won't really play on her own.

We too have a "toy box" which is really one of Justice's old beds. Otherwise all of the toys are all over the house (which they pretty much are everyday anyways!)
He currently loves his Nylabones, one is the chicken flavored, it is orange colored in the middle. He can't destroy it, and that makes him work even harder at it. We went through three PetSmart Sqeeky mouses, but he pulls the fur off of them. He has various plastic squeeky toys, but often he pokes holes in them, or chews off any piece that sticks out, so it doesn't squeek anymore. One of his new favorites is an old black dress sock (it was an orphan) that I have tied a knot in the middle of (so i know it is his, as opposed to one he often takes out of the laundry) He has countless hours of fun with that.
He has a Kong, but it is not hours of fun for him, he has figured it out, no matter what I put it, and gets the snacks within minutes. It must be his long lizard tongue.

Do not usually last long. My Dapple Blue Girl loves to play with tennis balls, where my little black and tan girl, Lady bug, dosent like to play ball, she would rather chew....On just about whatever she can find. I bought her a little rope to chew on, and a stuffed bunny, but its a fight to keep it from my Great Danes, who want to take it outside and play tug of war with it to see how long it will last. :yikes: I have to hide the babies toys from the bigger pups.
Maybe I need to go and get this Hippo from Wal-mart that everyone keeps talking about!

Ruben can destuff, & "desqueak" any toy in a matter of moments. By the end of Christmas day, there wasn't a toy left intact, and that included his sisters toys! Poor Trenyce would love nothing more than to take a stuffed toy and snuggle it. Ruben will not allow it. He doesn't even allow her to play with a toy, unless they can play tug. He has a toy box full of toys to play with and things to chew. Most of the time, it's pretty empty, as we have a big bag hanging in the utility room full of "supervised only" toys. These are ones that I'm not ready to toss just yet, but that have some hole in them for a good stuffing pull. I tried sewing his toys, but he finds my thread first!
Ruben has destroyed everything since he was about 4 months old. There went his favorite toy-a football.
Oh, he does have 2 talk-to-me-treat balls in the day pen, that he absolutely loves. We had to shut off the talk part though. Batteries were running us $13. per WEEK! He has worn the nubs off of these by rolling them on the basement floor. Trenyce lets him roll it and knock the treat out, then she snatches up the treat! Payback!

Oh my gosh does Penny love her toys :hugs1: My grown married children say I buy her more than I ever did them! But of course that can't be true :smirk: Since Penny is my first dachshund, and I never knew much about their personality, she keeps me laughing most of the day, and it's a nice feeling

Mine like stuffies with squeakers in them. Miller and Cash especially like these. There is one little dog that used to have swimming trunks that we call "The Dude" (from surfer dude) that is a special favorite. The Dude is such a favorite that they broke his squeaker and I had to give him a "squeaker transplant". Now he's the favorite again. They pretty much ignore other toys. They won't chase balls or frisbees, just squeaky stuffies.
