Last night it was finally time. Tasha was done with the Rimadyl and the vet said we should start 10 min walks. I took her out, carried her to the potty block, set her down at the end of the block and let her go. She was hesitant, looked at me, then walked over to the side of the sidewalk and sniffed everything in sight! Same story on the 9pm walk, my little girl was soooo happy to be walking again. She'd have walked all the way home, but we picked her up after 10 min and carried her back. She even barked at a big dog! February 1 we're clear to start to go back to more normal exercise. A nice 20 min walk in central park will be heaven for her--but we're cutting back on that squirrel chasing!!

So glad she is beginning to get back to her normal routine. Thanks for the update. Just be sure to not let her over do it. Those doxies (esp it seems the ones who are hurt) just don't like to think they need to take it easy! Extra rayz for her future walks :rayz: :rayz: :rayz:

Glad to hear all is going well. I'm sending more rays and hope it's a warm February so she can enjoy those walks.

is feeling better. Don't know how she feels about the COLD weather, but we're in for a deep freeze the next few days.

Keep feeling better Tasha!

very good news. How do you know when you can start walking them again? Rieke really, really wants to, but I'm too scared yet.

So glad Tasha is better!

Its so hard to know when to walk again and how long...the vet told us to wait until after she finished the Rimadyl, then start. And the vet approved Tasha's ramp to the couch, when we're home, and she was using that just fine, so we figured she was feeling better--no pain. Tasha was never down, just hunched and wobbly, but I still am so careful not to overdo it.

Poor Rieke sounds like she's had such a hard time....did you ask your vet? I sure was nervous on the first walk! But it was sooo nice to see her happy and sniffing and walking.

Yeah!!! that is great news! Continued rayz for no more relapses! So for how long did you hold your breath during that 10 minutes?

Lots of holding my breath, and trying to watch her gait under her nice dog-e-designs blanet coat, which covers so much of her....

Today its in the 50s so perhaps just a sweater so I can watch her gait more. She really seems much better, tried to chase a pigeon again this morning!

But I'm going to be constantly watching her back legs as she walks from now on I think!

I've been through back problems twice and you will be watching her carefully for a long time. After a while you get less paranoid about their little idiosyncrasies, but you are always watchful. I'm so glad that she's doing so well.
