View Full Version : Florida dachshund picnic
OK, Florida folk (and long-distance travelers, too!), mark your calendars. The 2005 Florida Dachshund Rescue picnic will be Saturday, April 9, in Lakeland, Fla., from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Lake Parker Park.
Directions and other information about the picnic can be found here (http://www.floridadachshundrescue.com/Events.htm).

if others of you are going. Hopefully I will get the right map this time. :)
Kim, I hope you will try again. I was embarrassed for our group that we did not have the correct map on the web site. The link I posted earlier has written directions (though it refers to Granda Street, which should be Granada).
Click here for a map (http://www.mapblast.com/(hep0kufywfcvgxaaevcsu445)/map.aspx?L=USA&C=28.08033%2c-81.94722&A=7.16667&P=|80D965F7|&TI=Lake+Parker+Park+(park)%2c+Florida%2c+United+States) to Lake Parker Park in Lakeland. Hope this helps.
We had a very large turnout last year and am sure we will again.

sounds great. Chloe would love to come, depends how she's doing (just started treatment for her Cushings) and right now she hates :( the car. So we'll see.

Chrissie (& Bob)? Joyce? Olga? Other new members from FL that I am forgetting? Other members who want to take a road trip?
I tentatively told my husband that Cassie and I might take another little "trip." :pink: Neither of mine has been around many other dogs (but need to!); I think she would enjoy it.

I will try! I'm so scared to plan anything that far out- my travel schedule changes so often these days. Work will have me in Seattle for a few weeks in April- we don't know WHAT weeks yet, though.
I SOOO want to go- and if it's at all possible, I will drag Bob (he won't resist a dachsie picnic much!) along if he can make it down!
It sounded like so much fun last year- now that the map is correct... I bet it will be even MORE crowded this year! ;)

I am going to try. Can't plan that far ahead.

Well, it doesn't sound like my dappled guys will be in attendance this year, Mack. :(
Bob flies in on Saturday- but not until 11:30 (12 by the time we're out of the airport). Add an 1.5+ hour drive to Lakeland- and we'll be just in time for the closing ceremonies! :tears:
I know you haven't been to one- but I'm wondering if people stick around long after "closing"? I just can't see making that drive for only 30-60 minutes of park time. This stinks. But at least I've got the NE Ohio picnic in July. *sigh*

My friend from Chicago is going to be visiting that weekend, and she is not a dog person (why did I acquire a friend who is not a dog person? I don't know! :dizzy: ). I am REALLY sorry to have to miss it. My husband had people in town for business this past week and Cassie LOVED them... she would have a great time at a picnic. :(

My hubby said maybe we will go. Can we go even if we are not in Doxie rescue? Hubby is afraid I will fall in love and want another Doxie (maybe it's himself that he is worried about.) We think it will take us about 2 hours to get there.
Sure you can come. The more the merrier.
