View Full Version : Spinal Stroke
My ten and a half year old mini black and tan wire hair suffered a stroke in her spine last Saturday and she is paralyzed in her hind legs. Has anyone had any experience with this?
A past Dachsie (Masse, pronounced mass-say) had a spinal infarction (stroke) . . . *strict* crate rest and pain meds resulted in a full recovery. We hope the same for your wire and are sending lotsa DBB Healing RAYZ to that end. :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz:
BTW Pam. welcome to DBB! :)

sent to you and your pup! I've not heard of that but I bet someone on DodgersList (www.dodgerslist.com) could steer you in the right direction to find out more info about it.
Prayers and :bighug: :bighug: sent to you!!!

I'm a new member here as well and am going thru my own turmoil with my little guy but you sound like you are going through a real horror. I have found in the short time that I've been posting here that there are alot of caring and knowledgable people here and I'm sure you will find some answers. In the mean time my heart goes out to you and your little one. I will pray for you both. As everybody here says here are some rays sent to both of you :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: .

Hello Pam,
Welcome to the DBB. We met in the chat room the other night. The "Rayz" being sent your way are a custom here on the board. The Rayz are good thoughts, positive energy and prayers to help in times of trouble.
So...:rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: X a million for your pupper.
I have been searching the web trying to find more info on spinal strokes. I am afraid I have not found anything helpful. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will read this post.

Welcome Pam and sorry to hear about your pup. Rayz from us and our crew! :rayz::rayz::rayz::rayz::rayz:
That is so good to hear! Her doctors are very guarded about their prognosis and I'm glad to hear the outcome can be positive. Any tips and advice on dealing with pooping and peeing issues in the interim would be gratefully appreciated.
I really appreciate all the good prayers and wishes. I know God loves all his creatures, great and small! I went to dodgerslist and posted my question there. Thanks for the suggestion. :wavey:

I don't have any experience of spinal stroke, but have had two paralyzed and unable to walk. One lost bowel and bladder control. You can use baby diapers on her. I use them on my 16 year old at times. Yolanda has a lot of experience with "down dogs" and diapering issues. She may be able to help you more. Sending tons of DBB healing rayz your way. :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: :rayz:
Dodgers List is a great resource. I wish I had known about it when I had my two down.

Bless your heart and your dachsies too. :rayz: to you and praying for a speedy recovery!
:angel1: Hello everyone and thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. Schnitzel is navigating around the house like crazy and getting stronger every day! It's not elegant or pretty, but she gets from point A to point B and that's more than I had expected at this point in time.
