For the breed ring, I know handlers trim the whiskers of Dachshunds. Even though that is not necessary for the juniors ring, I'd still like to learn how. For all of those handlers here, please give me some instructions. Thank you.

Sorry Tiff I do not do it I think it should only be done if you need to improve the look of the head of your dog.

Whisker trimming has sort of gone out of fashion as it has been found that the whiskers serve as "feelers" to help the dog sense their environment. Many people that use their dogs in the field do not trim whisker since the dogs use the whiskers to sense thorns, etc. that could injure the eyes or nose.
That said, I sometimes trim whiskers on my smooth for big shows and when there is a major at stake. I use a curved, blunt end scissors for the job. I pull the skin taut and just cut them off. Some people use small electric clippers. On the wires, I will trim the long whiskers on the side of their head and the ones that are under their chin, close to the neck. These are areas that are stripped on wires and when you pull the whiskers out it hurts and bleeds so I trim them.
