I am debating between these 2 foods for Peaches. We are getting ready to switch her to adult food. I bought a small bag of each to try, but I was wondering out of these 2 choices only what would you choose? Please don't suggest other types. Thanks!
Here is info on both:
Evo by Innova (http://www.naturapet.com/display.php?d=product-detail&pxsl=//product%5B@id='1246'%5D)
Wellness Simple Solutions - Duck Flavor (http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com/dogs/simple_food_duck.html)
Wellness Simple Solutions - Venison Flavor (http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com/dogs/simple_food_venison.html)

I voted Evo, I am in the process of making the switch from Chicken soup. My two have been eating it for a little over a week and are doing very well on it. I really like the fact that Mitch now has regular stools - I couldn't understand how such a small dog could be so full of c***!
It boils down to whatever she will eat and which food keeps her in optimal health. I read the ingredients in the foods you mentioned and I think that there is too much rice in the wellness. It is good for humans but I am not 100% convinced that brown rice has the same benefits for dogs.
Can you get either food easily? That is a big consideration. I drive 70 miles round trip once a month to get food and treats, since the pet shops and animal supply places where I live carry only Iams, Nutro and Science Diet.
Good luck with whatever you decide!

I can't really advise one or another as I have little experience with EVo and none with SS. I just think the reason for feeding those foods is different. SS was designed for dogs with allergies and EVO, I believe has multiple protein sourses. That makes more difficult to establish which protein the dog is allergic to.

As I've said before, SS has been wonderful for Tasha. Much less itchy, firm #2s, and the anal gland problems seem to have (fingers crossed) disappeared.

EVO, I recently moved all of my dogs over to it and even use it for my fosters now. I have a dog Nellie tha is allergice to most grains and she does very well on EVO. It is a matter of what Peaches will eat. Both are good foods. Just change her diet slowly and good luck.

I think Olga is right when she says they are for different issues. If Peaches is prone to anal gland issues, digestive upset, the itchies, I think Wellness Simple would be a good choice. But if not I bet the EVO would be great for her as long as it's not too rich.

I just switched Harley to Evo on Friday from Wellness Super5Mix chicken. he seemed to be bored with the wellness and doesn't eat all his food. :faint: The evo is gone in 10 seconds flat. Guess he really likes it!

Tanya if nothing else just mix the 2 and keep that as her kibble. I mixed 2 different one's for Gunner and Petunia. I will do that when I get the EVO.

Schatz was eating Wellness Puppy and started leaving it in his bowl. I switched to EVO and he loves it. It did constipate him though so now I mix Evo and Wellness, 2 to 1 ratio and it does the trick. I also pour a little hot water over the kibble to make a gravy. It is all gone within seconds.

We switched from Chicken Soup to Wellness and our two eat it all up. Very happy doggies. I tried several samples of foods from our local nutritionist and Wellness was the only brand they ate the entire sample of, so we let them pick, and they've been eating several flavors for about 6 months now.

Finally got to go to Tucson and bought the 13lb. bag of Evo. It was only $20.99 I bought all kinds of treats there also, then found a holistic store and bought some more treats. Is Petunia to young to eat this??? she is almost 8 mo. old.
I use Wellness SS Venison, it's lower in fat. The "girls" are very pleased with it. I've heard that EVO is very rich. Let us know what you decide. Good luck. :)

Yes, EVO is almost 600 cal/cup ( 575 or so). Compare that to 370 cal/cup of Chicken Soup PUPPY formula! Sabrina LOVED Innova kibble but got quite chubby on it

I still can't decide which one, so for now I am happy mixing them both together. I am not worried about EVO being to rich because Peaches is such a ball of energy! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I'm mixing Gunners and Petunia's with either Natural Balance or Avoderm.
Poncho

Gotta Love Evo! Ponch has been on it for a few months now and I don't think I've come across a better brand of kibble. Not only that, but Ponch's system is capable of eating kibble and raw while on Evo. Though each dog has it's own likes and dislikes

Of those two, I would use wellness. My dogs loved EVO but they packed on the weight because of the high fat. Switched to wellness and they dropped it again. I have moved on to one I like more but of those two... definitly wellness!!

I didn't vote because I'm learning and trying some meat/raw meat/...a little novice to the specialized diet. BUT I have to say, I wrote a note to the Enova folk asking about their different products for the following: a Senior lab mix who tends to put on weight/Arnie-recently through a bout of Pancreatitis/Two pups who are healthy/Gunther who is an Izzy with coat problems. I got the most detailed, thorough, honest answer back--I was really really impressed with their customer service and thoughts about their products. SOOOOO---I'm trying them out for some of our guys for a while--still doing the real meat thing as well.

I mix the Evo with low cal Natural Balance--sometimes with vegetarian.

I voted for the one that was the most dog-friendly: EVO :)
I used to feed Wellness until they poisoned it with Vit. K3 :( I also found, that the dogs didn't like the taste of it. Right now I'm feeding Pinnacle Duck and Potato and Solid Gold Whee Bit, but I will switch to EVO. The good thing about EVO is also that you don't have to feed a lot of it because it's so wholesome. :D :thumbup2: The next best thing to feeding raw I guess. ;)

Samson is almost 10 months old and I just switched him to Evo. A lot of people seem to think Puppy Food is just another marketing thing, but it's also said that Evo is too rich for puppies. I'd give it till the 10 month mark unless someone has reason to think that it shouldn't be a problem.
