Augs mom is a standard, dad's a mini. So Aug would be a tweenie right? He's at 15 pounds now, lean. Anyone at the Scrantor Doxie Day will attest to that. Is he a standard as soon as he hits 16 pounds or do both parents have to be standards.
Big Dan and Gabby are the standards that I am used to. A little round but
So, what is the deal?

He will be a standard. Weight is the only difference in the classifications.
Parents provide an idea of the size, but pups are often larger/smaller than either parent. My Rudy is the same size his father was - a tab bit bigger than his mom.
I have also met many lean tweenies at 13 or so pounds, while the parents were minis at right at 11lbs.
Just remember leaness is important. Too many people are letting their little ones get chunky.
Standards are so handsome!! Have you posted any pics of Aug???

Miniature is really only a classification for show purposes. In order to be shown in the open miniature class, a dog must weigh 11 pounds or less at a year of age. Anything over is technically a standard. In all other classes and in the performance events, miniatures and standards compete together.
It is quite possible for a pup from 2 "true" minature parents to go oversize. It is less common for a pup from two "true" standard parents to be a "true" miniature.
In Europe, under the FCI rules, there are 3 sizes of dachshunds determined by chest circumferance rather than weight.
