Not on Merry this time.. though she did ok at the meet we participated in this weekend we didn't get any qualifying scores.

This brag is on one of our DFW Club members, Kathleen, and her dog Lacy.

A little background:
Lacy is a female black and tan mini who came into the DFW Rescue program awhile back. Wendy the rescue coordinator was about to give up on the dog and deem her unadoptable because she was unapproachable and would bite you as soon as look at you. As a last resort Kathleen, one of our other members involved in rescue, took Lacy in to see if she could get her to come around. Basically if this didn't work Lacy was going to be put down because she was a danger to everyone.

With much patience Kathleen decided that she was making enough progress that she would keep Lacy and adopt her. She worked with her on obedience, socialization and got her involved in agility. Agility, really boosts a dogs confidence like nothing else.

This weekend, in I believe, only her 4th Agility meet... Miss Lacy earned Qualifying scores in Jumpers with Weaves on not only Saturday BUT Sunday as well !!!! Not bad at all for a little rescue dog on her last chance!!!!!!
I think Kathleen's feet probably still have not touched the ground since! :appl: :cheer: :appl: :cheer:

The other really great achievement with this dog is that you can now walk up to her.. reach down and pet her and come back with all your fingers. You would never know this dog ever had a problem dealing with people :)

I LOVE stories like this!! So many times all it takes is love (and some good training :D) to help a little one come around!

What a great story! I love successful rescue stories. It's so wonderful there are people out there willing to work with the nearly unadoptable and bring them back from the edge.

WOW! :appl: :appl: :appl: That is wonderful! You just helped me decide that Tess should go ahead and start the next beginners class. Maybe Goldie too when she gets comfortable enough to do obedience.

That's a great story. I am going to sign Sabrina up for agility as soon as we move. Our local classes were all cancelled as the only trainer quit due to her husband's poor health. The joys of living in a small town!
