So far Rex has done well about chewing things he's not supposed to. Put a stuffed "squeaker" in front of him, and you can forget it!! I think the record is 3 minutes until he has worked a hole big enough to pull stuffing out. :devil1:

We have a kong, and nylabones. Are there any *durable* squeaker toys out there? We got one at PetSmart that is made of rubber, and REALLY loud. So far that's done the best- it looks like a martian, a round red ball with little ears and feet. The squeaker doesn't work, but otherwise is still in tact.

What have you had success with?

Sounds like you have a Cuz! That has been the best I have found too. :) Usually if they make squeaky sounds, the rubber is really flimsy.

I would also love to know if there are any out there!

Harley chews up everything with a squeaker. I definitely needed to find something that don't get eaten in a day!

Oooh...great question! Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions, but I can't wait to hear what others have to say. The only thing that will occupy Schroeder for more than 2 minutes is rawhide, and I really don't want to give that to him too often. Although he did like his kong with PB but man was it messy! I don't think he's real impressed with the Nylabones...as someone said in the Nylabone thread below...he can't eat them, so he doesn't see the point :dunno1: He's actually barked at his nylabone I think in frustration :D

Anyway, can't wait to see response to this!

YES!! That's it- a Cuz. At least I am pretty sure...

It wasn't a miracle toy or anything in terms of holding up, but so far it's done better than the others that met their untimely death in a matter of minutes. :devil1:

Ugh- I'm hoping you all have some good suggestions.

LOL- consider yourself lucky- Rex has figured out a way to rip bit by bit off, and tries to eat the "non" edible. :faint:

Alison, I think Jack has one that is almost the same as the one you talked about. It is a red ball with feet and little devil horns (we thought it fit Jack's personality)... he normally destroys any soft or squeaky toys so this heavier material ball has been a lifesaver. He has taken to throwing it to make it squeak though, can't seem to do it by chewing it.

Schnitzel is an avid chewer. She is also a master destuffer! She's not impressed with kongs or nylabones because she feels like she can't make "progress" with them--which means, she can't destroy them. She loves flossies and rawhides. We thought we'd have to give up on stuffed toys, until we found: Fat Cat / Doggy Hoots. They are made of a canvas-like material and has a squeaker inside. Some will have a crackly-material that makes cool sounds. They have these cool arms and legs that she can flop around and will bring it to us to play fetch. We buy them at Petco and they have different sizes. Type in Doggy Hoots into the Petco search field and it will bring them all up. We swear by them!!! We've got 4 or 5 lying around the house and she's never been able to destuff them. She killed a squeaker once, but hasn't done it since. :)

Wow those doggy hoots look great! By the sounds of it they last a lot longer than regular stuffed toys too.

Laura- yes, I think it is the same one! He loves it, and so far it's done better than other toys.

Schnitzel- thanks for the hoot suggestion! We'll have to give that a whirl.

Bailey and his 'brother" Scout both managed to de-squeak their first cuz...and Bailey even tore off the feet! We got them new ones though and its the only toy they won't fight over when they are together.

This weekend we got Rex a doggy hoot stuffed cat- and I'm pleased to report that it is still intact!! He was chewing on it pretty good, but so far, so good! :cheer: :cheer:

Thanks for the suggestion!

Glad that it hasn't been destuffed. I'm telling you, these things are great! Schnitzel tries to find a weekness, but hasn't been able to get it yet. :D
