I was in the hospital for depression and my best friend had to give my Annie away to a family. I just couldn't take care of her the way she needed to and it's unfair to her to keep putting her in a kennel. I did the best I could but it wasn't good enough.
I came home from the hospital today and it hurt not to see her cute little face and her tail wagging. She was always so happy to see me. I can't stop crying. I keep thinking how she'd sleep under the covers with me and lick away my tears when I was sad. She loved playing with the big dogs in the park. She drove me nuts sometimes when she'd tear things up or wrestle with the cats, but I so miss her. She made a difference in my life. Had I known I'd never see her again I would have given her a big hug and a kiss and told her to be good.

I feel your pain. I had to give up one of my girls because she had some bad experiences with men (I think abuse), and when I adopted her, I was single. Well, 7 months later, Rick came into my life, and 4 months later we were married, but she and he did not get along AT ALL! I had him try all the things they tell you to do, but it wasn't working for either of them. So, after much tearful deliberation, I sent her to Idaho to my friend, Robyn. I had her transported by a company that does that professionally, and they picked her up when I was not home and I didn't get to hug her goodbye, either! Then, a couple of months later, she was diagnosed with a large brain tumor, and Robyn(with my input) chose to have her put to sleep.

I know it must be very hard to not have her with you. The choice you made for her was what was very difficult I am sure. I am positive she is being loved and well cared for. I hope you are feeling better and getting back on your feet. I am sending prayers and rayz :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: for your heart and health.

You did the right thing for her, although I know it is hard. Take some time to get things together, and then someday when you are ready, you will find another little friend to share your love with.

I'm so sorry you lost your Annie. It must be terribly hard for you now. I have had trouble with depression and battle it almost daily. I know my little one have helped me through the worst. Kim is right. Take time now to mourn your loss and get your life together. When you are ready there will be another little one to share it with.

Feel free to use our shoulders to lean or cry on. Post some of your fond memories to some of the forums like dachsie tales if you think that might help. When the time is right and you feel like your life is in the right place you will find another little one to join you on life's path.

Thank you everyone who has posted. I truly appreciate it.
Tonight is the perfect spring night. Annie would have loved the park today.
I cried last night. Annie would have been there, wagging her tail and kissing me.
I miss her so much!!!!!
