Stages?

Mitzi is almost six months old now and seems to be scared of a lot of things. Especially out side things. We have a neighbor who has a large dog (she is very friendly) but now when Mitzi goes outside she'll start to bark while still on our porch even before we know if the other dog is out. She is scared of noises and such also. Is this just a stage she is going through? I really hope it is cause she is being a pain in the butt.

It seems to me 6 months does mark some sort of fear period. I think she'll outgrow it. From what you've said in the past, Mitzi is naturally a pretty brave little thing!

With dachsies, it is important to socialize them often. A friend of mine who has two boy dogs walks hers every day she can get a chance and makes sure people and other dogs get close enough to offer cookies and pets every time. Be sure to carry goodies with you when she is walked and get your dog friends to participate in this with you. Keep us posted on how she is doing. Josie and the doxies
