Whew!

I just settled down from separating Sunny and Dolly from their first (and hopefully last) major fight with blood and everything. It all started with a toy that Sunny was squeekin'. Not even one of Dolly's favorites.....remember the SPIDER from the bow wow?? Well, Dolly wasn't going to have any of that nonesense and started to take it away. I got there too late and the fight was on! They were REALLY going at it. I was yelling and screaming but not daring to get close to any teeth. Finally it was over. Since Sunny is bigger than Dolly, I checked her out first. She was fine. I went to Sunny. I noticed blood on my hands right away. I still couldn't see where she got him.....you know how blind I am. So I got the peroxide out and liberally applied it to his ears and general neck area. Still more blood and he was shaking his head, but not wimpering or anything. Then I saw where it was coming from. Dolly got him on the ear. Well, you know how ears bleed like crazy? Once I got him cleaned up(he was sooooo good and let me doctor him) I saw the source. Nothing major. Just a scratch really. Poor guy. What was really amazing to me was how I handled it all. Usually I get pretty queasy around blood, but I just handled everything with out any thought to getting yucky feeling. Guess that means I'm a "MOM", huh? Well, hope those 2 don't kill each other before we take him down to Santa Barbara in about a month. Any suggestions? Tell me things will settle with Dolly Monster and Sunny Boy.

I'm pooped!

Things will settle down. They are getting a pecking order down. Mine usually have a few barfights and then settle into a routine. Remember Sunny should be the last to receive anything. He needs to work himself up the ladder if he wants to be king. Voice your disapproval with a grumpy voice just to let them know this won't be tolerated in your house. My Silly had a tough time in the beginning with fosters but now he is the welcoming commitee for each newbie that comes through the door.

Established female alpha are harder on the incoming male than the other way around. Males in general don't really like attacking the girls if they don't have to...

I hope for dachsie Mom's sake love turn over in their hearts soon! Hang in there!
