To make a long story short, when we first rescued Bailey last year he had some fear aggression problems. Once we got him more socialized he improved so much. He sometimes still gets a little crazy if a stranger approaches him, especially if they use a quick, type movement towards him.
Anyway, Bailey is the type of dog (like alot of pets) that you do not bother when he is sleeping, he gives you a grunt as to say "leave me alone, I am tired". When my 5 year old goes to bed , Bailey usually sleeps in my sons bed. When my hubby & I go in later that night to kiss Matt goodnight, and cover him Bailey freaks out. He used to growl at us, so I would grab him by the nape of the neck and make him get off the bed. Now he gets down right NASTY!!! He practically lunges at us if we try to go near Matt. I am afraid to grab him to get him off the bed , scared he may actually bite ushttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/afraid.gif
Why is this getting worse? What can we do to try and change this situation.
Bailey is such a wonderful dog, he is great with all the kids my son plays with. Is he protecting Matthew while he is sleeping?????
The only time he gets like this is if my son is asleep, and we try to go near him. Never when Matthew is awake.
The other night we managed to get him off the bed, we shut Matt's door so he could not go in, and forbid him from coming on our bed (which he always is in). Dont you know that Bailey say on the floor next to our bed crying to come up, but would not jump up because he knew hw was not welcome. Then my hubby said," Up, Bailey" and he then jumped on the bed with his tail between his legs.
I hope someone can help us here. We love this dog so much, but he can not , and will not rule us over our own son like thathttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/kfrown.gif
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Linda
