I'm sure all of us have purchased un-needed items or items which didn't fit the bill of use. Starting from this premis I'd like to narrow down the toteability of items for showing yet not leave anything out. For those whom are in the know what are the best items to purchase.
Especially type and size of crate for a mini? I currently have one portable and one large crate but am not satified.

This depends on the coat of your dog, how many dogs you intend to show...etc. etc.
I have an asortment of leads, my #1 lead is a Choke chain. Some of my guys have a mind of their own and I MUST keep control of the dog in the ring. I have tried the plain resco leads and they do work well for some dogs, however, for the MAJORITY of my dogs, and it may be due to the piebald extremely active gene, I have to use the chain leads. I use a silver snake chain on the black resco loop lead. I have plain resco leads in Mahogany and Black. I have a Martindale resco in Black, this lead would be wonderful for pups and lead breaking but mine needs to be softened so that it will release when the dog lets up on the pull, right now it is so stiff it continues to choke them. Recently they have come out with a chain martindale collar that goes on a Rescue loop lead. I eneded up finishing Keith in this lead and started Bacardi off in it. (hmmmm where is this lead, I have not had it for the past two shows, maybe I overlooked it in my lead box)
My lead box is a small (6x8") tackle box, which is usually a lure insert to a larger box. It has individual compartments which are adustable, however, I roll my leads up around my fingers and stuff them into a compartment, they fit perfectly and are kept seperate and kept from tangling up with other leads. It has worked well for about 2 yrs now and it is time to get a new one as the hinges are broken on mine.
I have 4 fold down Nylabone crates, but I enter 3-8 dogs at any given show. I can get 8 dogs into 4 of the Nylabone crates, 2 in each, though some of my larger dogs would be more comfortable alone.
I have a cart that I can stack the 4 nylabone crates on (or occasionally the fold down wire crates [18x24]) I also use the non slip pads between the nylabone crates otherwise I would loose crates along the ride to ringside due to slipping and sliding, they are very slick.
Bungees and plenty of them. I bungee each crate to the crate below it then bungee the whole group to the cart. They do sell super size ones for bungee'ing the crates to the cart.
ex-pens....two together make a very nice exercise yard for the puppers. I always pack at least 4 with me but then I take a BUNCH of dogs with me. I now have a rack on the front of my Van for the ex-pens, I also have a hitch rack on the back of my van for an easy up, water jug (6 gallon) and other necessities.
Tarps for incliment weather.
Shade covers (tarps can work too but the shade covers allow for a breeze to come through them)
Clamps for attaching tarps and shade covers to the expens.
extra snap hooks for the expens.
watering buckets
pooper scooper
I am sure there are many, many more items.....like plastic grocery bags for disposing of the poop.
You need to make a list then keep it with you so that when you get to the shows and if you think of something else that you wished you had but did not have you can add it to the list.
