View Full Version : Guilty Pleasures?

What are your top 5 guilty pleasures? Something that you feel you are "indulging" yourself with and that you don't get or get to do very often?
5. Hazelnut coffee (whole bean)...every morning I make a cup and it seems to help start my day off well. I don't think it's just the caffeine. The scent after brewing is wonderful.
4. Really good wine. I don't know names or brands, but love the taste of a really good Merlot or Shiraz....makes me feel rich. My husband usually picks up a bottle once per month and we treat ourselves to that and his "gourmet" cooking.
3. A good snuggle w/the kids and Cricket. When we all pile on the bean bags in the living room and just veg out in front of the TV. We don't have much time to do that as often as I'd like.
2. Sleeping in....my kids hit the sack early at night and that means waking up early. If Cricket isn't giving me the hint that he wants to go out (at 5:30am), then my kids are awake by 6am. Even on weekends.
1. NAPS.....If there were a job that required me to nap, I'd be CEO! Why kids under the age of 13 resist napping is beyond my comprehension. Nothing feels better than borrowing under the covers at 1pm and napping for a couple of hours.
So, those are my top 5 (as of today.. :D ). What are some of yours?

I am with you on #1...I LOVE naps! I especially love naps on a days when it is lightly raining and about 65 degress outside. I'll crack the window a little to get a nice cool breeze and smell the rain. I'll have a warm little weiner dog next to me. It doesn't get better than that! :)
#2 Buying decorative things for the house. I love seeing rooms "come together" in our new house.
#3 Getting a dessert at a restaurant. I don't do it very often because I usually too full from the meal to eat dessert, and they are so overpriced. I am so cheap that I think I can get a whole cake for that price!
#4 Getting a smoothie at Jamba Juice.
#5 Getting my nails done. I don't do it very often, so when I do, I feel especially girly.

1. Shopping :pink: okay, I do that fairly often... but I mean more of a large-scale, day-long, multiple bag event
2. Sleeping late. I have to get up by 6:45 to get to work during the week, and Cassie insists on getting up at the same time on the weekends. She will let me go back to sleep for a few hours after she's fed, but it's not quite the same. I used to work 3PM-midnight for many years and am still NOT a morning person!
3. Eating large amounts of pizza
4. Long, relaxing bath while reading. Husband and dogs whine at door when I try this. Cassie tries to jump in the tub... I will probably let her some day, but then I think the reading would be out.
5. Frozen tropical drinks (usually I have wine, but once in awhile I need a festive 500-empty-calorie something with a paper umbrella in it). :dizzy:

Hmm...lets see..
1. Sleeping. As a music major I was horribly sleep deprived and LOVE the opportunity to sleep.
2. Buying something for my apartment, myself, or my dogs that isn't a necessity.
3. Going home. I make it to Sugar Land (where my parents are) about once everyother month for a weekend, sometimes not even that. Once I move to Waco, it might be a LONG, LONG time before I get to visit them.
4. Being by myself. At the moment, there are 3 grown people and 2 dogs in my two bedroom apartment. It gets a little crazy sometimes and I just want to get away.
5. Time with friends. I mean days where you don't have a set agenda and can just enjoy eachother's company.

1. No husband, or child in the house. Only pups, and peace and quiet. :D
2. A juicy romance  novel to go along with that peace and quiet, along with a wiener :puppy: by my side, and the other :puppy: on the back of the couch, on my neck.
3. CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE, :kiss2: CHOCOLATE!(And not for the pups!)
4. Spending time with my mom, :coolcool: like this past weekend, we went to lunch together by ourselves, with no kids, or husbands!
5. Spending quality time with my :muchlove: daughter.

Hmm...this is a nice thought..
1) spending time with my hubby (my number 1 pleasure, but not a guilty one at all!). I'm blessed to be married to my best friend, and since our individual careers and interests keep us busy - being able to just hang out together is really wonderful.
2) BATHS - now, I'm fussy about this one. It has to be a hot bubble bath accompanied by a nice glass of white wine and a good book.
3) Wine - My father nurtered a passionate love of the grape in me from childhood and it's a real passion
4) FLGPC - the Fuzzy Ladies Gun and Poker Club, which is simply a bunch of my girlfriends and I getting together to have fun. It often does involve playing poker, but can also include what we call "estrogen fests". Men, trust me, you don't want the details :devil1:
5) The Silkwater Spa - even for just a manicure, it's serene, relaxing atmosphere gets rid of every type of stress imaginable!

I didn't get a chance to read many other peoples lists but here is mine (in no particular order). They are all such LAZY activities. I need to change that:
1. letting Oscar sleep in the big bed and cuddle
2. taking a long hot bath, washing my hair and NOT blowing it dry, especially on a nice warm day. oh, and add in some expensive bath products and I am in heaven!!
3. scrapbooking (I hardly ever get to it though)
4. sleeping late--very late
5. web surfing

My guilty pleasures?
1) I like a hot-as-I-can-stand-it lavender bubble bath, in a room lit with candles and Gloria Estefan or Shania Twain on the boom box. (Brekke loves to snooze on the bath mat at this time!)
2) a bar of dark chocolate, and a book by Anne McCaffrey/Laurien Berenson/Elizabeth Lanier/Laurell K. Hamilton/Elizabeth Peters/Carolyn G. Hart to read.
3)spending the day shopping when I am tired of all my clothes and getting at least 3 new outfits, going out for seafood, and then having a nice foot soak in the heat/massage foot bath.
Oh, well - all of mine are combos - such is life! 8:27 p.m. edit: and now that I think about it, a perfect day could be #3, #1, and #2, in that order!

No!! They are GUILTY pleasures - so they can be lazy (and/or fattening). :) But you don't have to feel guilty about them.

Hmm... Guilty Pleasures, I am taking three days off from work, maybe I should indulge! :D
1. Taking a nap with Roxy on the couch
2. Taking a nice hot bubble bath to relax
3. Breyer's "Sara Lee" Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream OR Ben&Jerry's Phish Food Ice Cream ( I LOVE Ice Cream :D )
4. Listening to cheesy 80's music (like Duran Duran's Greatest Hits CD)
5. Getting some pizza and pop and watching Ocean's Eleven (with all that eye candy  ) on a lazy saturday night.

• Napping during the day, with the furbabies of course!
• Phoning my family & friends back in South Africa.
• Buying home decor items for the house that we don't really need...
• Ordering dessert after dinner at a restaurant, even when I'm full!
• Reading a brand-new book in pretty much one go, I'm book crazy.
(P.S. I only feel guilt over the last 3, the first 2 are my essential pleasures! :D)
