Hello, I'm new and I'm feeling really stupid too.

My 3 yr old Doxie, Zoe, has always been a little affraid of other dogs. We have never been able to successfully socilize her with other dogs. She does ok with my mother's doxie, but really, Zoe only tolerates him.

Zoe has been a little lonely lately so we got another Doxie puppy. He's very playful and he scares Zoe so much that she will run to her favorite hiding places to get away from the puppy.

What can I do? She seemed to do ok w/ my mother's dog, but the new puppy really scares her. Zoe's tail goes b/w her leg and she acts very submissive.

These doxies are minis by the way. Thanks for any help.

Your girl Zoe needs to be slowly introduced to the pup and the pup to Zoe. I would take it extremly slow and have you and another person hold the two dogs until they are comfortable enough to socialize on the ground. They should get some ground time each time you bring them together. Overall they should warm up to each other. Goodluck!!!!

As long as Zoe isn't getting aggressive with him you don't want to start holding or babying her. If you do so she will take that as positive feedback that her fears are justified. Is there a good dog trainer in your area? They or you vet are good sources of advice. The trainer would be my first choice since they could acutually observer how Zoe and the pup behave and then offer advice.

Good luck,
