I have made a wonderful discovery about Mckenzie. She likes the rain! And mud, she likes mud too! Oh, and apparently she likes the smell of pine, because she's wearing pine sap in her fur in 4 places. :banghead: :faint:

where those little tiny green Velcro-like things get stuck all over her fur. Of course, she is the fluffier of my two . Luckily she is also the one who does not mind being brushed. Sounds like Mckenzie might be spending some time in the tub in the near future. :D
Someone's longhair liked rain and mud... might have been Tammara's Ruben but I am not sure.

It's all good. I don't mind bathing her, but with the weather we're having it looks like it might be an every day thing. I don't want to over wash her, maybe I can just plop her in the tub and give her a soapless bath. The pine sap isn't going to come out that easy. It'll probably have to be cut out, which means either a groomer or doing it myself, and since I'm "aesthetically challenged" :D a groomer is going to be my best bet. Or maybe I can find one who is talented enough to fix what I do. :)

A little oil or butter might get the sap out. And as far as bathing her, well maybe you can just use baby wipes in between baths..?

I got sap out with mayonaise! Please don't cut the hair! Ok, just my Afghan upbringing panicking :D
Rieke can be full of cr*p stuck in her fur, beard, legs, tail, she keeps going. Tinki Diva however will stop immediately if there is a small leaf stuck to her paw :faint:

A dachsie who doesn't mind rain and getting wet? You're very lucky Chris! I had to carry Tasha this morning over a spot where someone was hosing off the sidewalk. She was sure her paws would melt if she stepped on wet sidewalk.

I used to go to each outside door in the house with Copper and Junior to show them it was wet outside of each one before I could get them to step out, and then they would step out the door, the leg would go up, and they'd be right back in. I went with Mckenzie to the first door thinking it would be the same way and she ran right out there and started playing.
I'll try the oil and butter; since mayo is mostly oil anyway I'll save that for samiches. :) I've got a new spot to try it on, too. She has a blob of sap on her muzzle with a piece of bark stuck in it. She treed a lizard and was so excited she bit the tree!
I put a doggy door in today, she's gone through it once already. I expect she'll be in and out a lot more now, bringing more of the yard in with her. This may eventually wear a little thin, but right now I'm just thrilled by everything she does. :D
This is my new footrest under my computer desk. Unfortunately, it's strictly decorative. :)

although it may get up and wander off after a bit :D.
Mckenzie is going to be a delightful little handful, I think :pink:. I am glad she came home with you.

 same here! Mine are a bunch of babies--for sure. I always take mine to the groomers. If I had a longhair, I'd probably take them twice as much. I figure, they know what their doing, and I dont! Leave it to the pros!

Mud, sprinker, rain, fresh garden compost, that's my Rubebeast! Yes indeed! :devil1:  :smash: He's all messy boy.
Go Mckensie! When he was little I posted a photo of him digging in his first mudpuddle. It was his first winter thaw, and he was in doggie heaven. I wan't so thrilled! Mud up to his whatever he could get up to! :faint:

Go Mckenzie! Boys shouldn't have all the fun.

We've only had 1 day since I got them on 6/7 when it didn't rain. She doesn't dig every day, but she does it often enough to get hosed off every other day. I've only shampooed her once so far, the reset of the time I'm just rinsing off loose dirt. She's much smaller when she's soaked! :)
Holly doesn't mind the wet either. She's not as vigorous in her outdoor play as Mckenzie, but she does play and hunt. She likes to go out and lay in the grass, and doesn't care if the grass is wet when she lays down in it.
