I have noticed a few Washington State and Oregon people on the board. Would any of you be interested in a doxie meet and greet? Or better yet do any of you know of any doxie events in the area that you could tell me about. I am new to this coast and would love to hear from any of you.
In the area I live there are so many nice parks and the Columbia River has some beautiful areas. I am also willing to travel.
love to hear from anyone with any ideas.

Are you available tomorrow afternoon? (Saturday, June 11). A meet-up is scheduled for 2:00 at Potso Park in Tigard. Next weekend (June 18) is a "Dachshund Derby" at the Washington County Fairgrounds across from the Hillsboro airport. Check www.meetup.com for local events.

We might be able to make that one in Tigard tomorrow. What's going on?

The Dachshund Outreach Group also has a doxie meetup at Lewisville Park every September (I believe). This year will be the first time we go because paige was just a little puppy last year!

But what state is Tigard in? Also what town is the Washington County Fairgrounds in.
I will check the map and find out how to get there. Also lucky me. Hubby's car has GPS. So if I have an address I can usually find most anywhere
Thank You
Count me in... for something! Anywhere in the Puget Sound area would work best for me. If you're talking eastern WA... I occasionally go to Wenatchee and might be going to Lake Chelan this summer... soooo I'm not sure. But I would totally be down for a meet up!

TIgard is in Oregon - it's sort of a suburb on the SW side of Portland. I asked for more info too (we don't know that park). Maybe we'll all see each other! :D

Can I please get more information about the Derby? I have wanted to enter our pups in them, but haven't been able to find any!

Potso Park is just off 99W in Tigard, Oregon. I have friend who says I'm not allowed to give directions, so here's a web link I found for it: http://groups.msn.com/ORWAPugs/potsopark.msnw. The first Saturday or Sunday of the month is "pug day," which is why the link is from a pug site.
I don't know a whole lot about the Dachshund Derby. I think it starts at 10:00 and registration on the day of the event is $25. It looks like the Craig's List link doesn't work anymore & that's about all I know. I figured I'd just show up at the gate with dog in hand.

You're not allowed to give directions? That's crazy!
$25 to register? I wonder what that includes. I sure would like to see Mooch and Paige run their little hearts out!
Thanks a lot!

I think Paige would run to us, but I think Mooch would run off to chase a bird or something. ;)

Sounds like fun. I will see if I can make it tomorrow or next week. I am not too familiar with either of these towns, but the meetup places seem like they would be easy to find.

We may or may not be able to go tomorrow - we'll have to see how Mooch is feeling after his shot. We'd also prefer a meetup that didn't cost money ;) so maybe those of us in the area could organize our own meetup sometime?

Hey I live in Salem and would love to have a NW DBB get together sometime, I found a link for the Derby, http://home1.gte.net/res8jtye/convictamendcoalition/id31.html , That has all the registration information for anyone interested. Ill be getting a puppy in about a week here, so I wont be able to bring it around for any meetups just yet but soon enough. Id love to help plan something if there is enough interest.

Haha I just got a new camera so there will be lots of pictures! I was going to get it from a breeder out of Summerville but their girls came into heat late so I've got a couple other places lined up that im hoping come through. I should be getting a b/t boy, Ill keep you posted though! Im finally out of the dorms and Ive got a house lined up for next year, and yes, its pet friendly with a yard, so everything but the puppy itself is all lined up. :-p

I would LOVE to do a meet up, but I probably won't make it this summer....I am still working on Rupert's aggression towards other dogs and I am getting married next month :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: (I'm not excited ha ha :D ), so unfortunately my weekends are pretty full for me to do doggy get-togethers...

The meetup went pretty well! I think there were ~15 dachshunds in attendence. Unfortunately, I didn't talk to anyone very much. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I was just busy throwing a ball for Isabella and trying to keep Tigger (my yorkie mix) calm. He was nervous around so many unfamiliar dogs.
To clarify a couple of things:
- The meetups are free. It's the Derby next weekend that has an entrance fee.
- My friend was mostly joking when she said I'm not allowed to give directions. I'm a bit "directionally challenged." When I give directions, people get lost!

Sorry we didn't make it. I really wanted to take them out there, but the weather didn't look that great. We won't be at the Derby this weekend either, but hopefully we will be able to make it to the next Doxie meetup at that park!

I believe there is a doxie meetup at Magnuson Park this Sat. I may go.
