View Full Version : our cat crossed the bridge
i haven't been able to put this on here until today. Our cat, who helped so much with our doxie Ginger who we got at 5 weeks, she took her in like her baby and kept her warm and she never whined, and she was still giving Ginger baths daily (even at 6 months, and althought Ginger didn't like it). Well i let her out like i normally do every nite, she is usually gone for about 20 minutes and comes right back in. This time she didn't come home and was missing for several days, i checked the shelter, she wasn't there. Then my neighbor told me she was hit by a car. They saw her, and the other neighbor got her out of the street and buried her, so that my son wouldn't see her. I'm in disbelief, and saddened so much that her fate turned out to be so tragic. I just hope she didn't suffer, and wish my neighbors would have told me the day they found her, not two days later. I worried so much, and walked all over looking for her. At least we know what happened, and today is easier than the day i found out. We had her for two years, she showed up on my doorstep hungry, and we took her in. She was such a sweetie. Shay

Shay, I'm so sorry about your cat. What I don't understand is, why did your neighbor take it upon themself to bury your cat? It was your cat, not theirs. Also, like you said, why did they wait 2 days? Sounds kinda fishy to me. It was kind of you to take in a hungry cat, and what a sweet story of Ginger and the kitty.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Yes I too have questions, i wonder why they didn't come get me when they found her, the reason was to protect my son from seeing her, but it wouldn't have hurt for them to knock on the door, and ask one of us to come outside, they could have told us without my son finding out or seeing her. the neighbor that saw her in the street and the neighbor that buried her were two different people. she was seen on the street at 5 am by the one neighbors husband on his way to work, as she told me he called when he got to work and asked her if the multi-colored cat was ours. the neighbor that got her out of the street and buried her at 6 am used to work at the shelter, and maybe just felt it was the best thing to do. i don't know, the kids bus-stop is right near where she was, and maybe that is why they took it upon themselves to bury her. as far as not telling me until a few days later, i will never understand.
