Who allows hot dogs to be served in their homes? I am against this out of sheer principle. I think Snooter and Buster consider it rude. :circle:

I eat them here, but we eat only hebrew national dogs. They answer to a higher source after all LOL

Sorry, my German heritage dictates that I must love sausage of all types.
I know hotdogs aren't good for you .. but there is nothing like a Sonic Chili Cheese Coney or a hot dog and beer at the ball park.

Hubby won't touch 'em, but give me a big fat Chicago hot dog with Ketchup, mustard, and my own home canned relish, and I'm in pig out heaven. Bad for me, but God I love 'em. :yikes:

Vegetarian. My honey does, so he gets the lecture about mystery meat because my dad died from colon cancer. I'm sure hot dogs are the same yuk parts they put in supermarket canned pet food :sly:

The Oscar Mayer brand of weiners was in our home long before out lovable living weiner came along. My kids love 'em.....my daughter will grab a cold one for a snack (yuck). Buck goes crazy when he smells them. While he doesn't get them for a treat he once got stuck between our recliner and end table trying to sneak one from a plate by daughter had left on the end table.

DH and I don't eat them, but Tasha gets organic, antibiotic free hotdogs. One of her favorite foods!

I really love a good hot dog! I know it's all garbage in there so they are not part of our regular meals but once in awhile...YUMMY!

Have to agree with this! I found out in the 6th grade what was in a hot dog, so I pretty much stopped eating them after that...EXCEPT at ball games. Don't know what it is...something in the air makes me crave hot dogs at sporting events. Of course, I make it worse by adding that mystery chili paste stuff to it :circle:

I would like to vote 'other'. I really don't care for them but my husband eats them and the weiners are canibals!!

sheesh...life w/o hotdogs?! Are you insane? Or maybe I am. We grill them, slap on whatever we can find in the fridge and chow away. We are big sausage fans too. I know they are bad, I do not know what is in them (does anyone REALLY?!) but love them anyway. I limit my kids' intake of them as much as I can....BUT, my daughter eats a balogna sandwhich every day for lunch (w/cheese) and has been since kindergarten (grade 3 soon) and they have the same crap in them as hotdogs  .

We had hot dogs for dinner last night! :D We eat turkey dogs though - they taste the same to us and don't seem quite as questionable as the regular hot dogs. ;) I also looove the polish dogs at costco with deli mustard...mmmmm. :)
Someone mentioned eating them cold - I used to do that all the time as a kid too (cold hot dog sandwich with ketchup!) but now they say on the package to cook them first so I dunno if that's a paranoia thing or if that's for real??

I am not supposed to eat them because of the sodium.....but every now and then I just have to have one.
When we have our Hallo-Wiener Picnics we have to cook hotdogs. All dachshund picnics have to have hotdogs, don't they ?

I agree. some of them are a little scary, knowing what is in them. But I love Sonic chili dogs too, and a good grilled dog with Mustard, and sweet pickle relish. My teenager loves them raw too. (Yuk) I will only eat them cooked. Connie, my big dog love, says she'll eat them any way mom would let her have them!

Yup they didn't have anything that was really very good. But hey I am another one of those Germans and I love sausage and bratz! But I could never do the contest where they pig out and see who can eat the most hot dogs in a certain amount of time. Ugh! I don't know how they do it?

Now and then we love to have them! I try and buy the better quality ones, and just don't think about what they contain! :D Bacca & Solo always get a small piece too, it's one of their rare 'human food' treats and they love them! :bounce:

We eat them on occasion. It's a must when we are at a Red Sox game, and when we travel to visit some of my family in Fort Myers FL, a Skyline Cheese Coney is on the Must Do list. I rarely make them at home, but if I do, I buy the chicken hot dogs. Bailey loves them.

I love hotdogs. Kosher hotdogs from the supermarket or the "dirty dogs" from the NY city street vendors are the best.
A really good question to ask your dachsie: Hey, are you afraid of mustard and sauerkraut???
My3Dachsies
08-26-2005, 10:30 PM
Yep, a good ol' Hebrew National with sauerkraut, onions, and mustard - or a giant Kosher's Best with the same! LOL Mmmm...
Hubby wants to find a Hebrew National t-shirt for the dogs! Our kosher weiners

It's bad but I do eat turkey hot dogs in front of my dogs. One of my dogs is named Noodle and I eat those in front of him too... Of course he is always at my feet when there is food around so on occassion he shares the enjoyment in eating noodles.

We don't eat them regularly, but we have some on hand for when the kiddies come over.
We have a saying about hot dogs, since they are Mechanically separated.......Chicken lips and @ss parts! YUCK! (same for pork or beef ones)
Kinda turns ya off them!
I didn't vote.......I would have picked "other"

We buy them and cook them on the grill or cook them over an open fire when camping. We buy only the all beef ones. Auggie always gets a bite or two when camping but Josh misses out because he wants inside as soon as we start the fire; he is scared of the smoke but Auggie loves being as close to the fire as he can get. Gabe is so so about the fire but usually comes close enough to get a bite of hot dog too! Josh's trainers used them for treats and they work well with him for that. Very motivating!!!! LOL

Beef hotdogs are good. What is a Metro Atlanta Dachshund Meetup without the hotdogs??? And the four legged kind??

I only eat vegetarian hot dogs. I'm NOT a vegetarian but I love the taste of a tofu-dog! Regular hot dogs tend to make me gag. My sisters and parents eat beef franks, not sure about my brother as I never see him at all.
I'm sure GingerSnap would love a hot dog. She doesn't get one. But she will get to be one for Halloween! (I bought a pattern for a bun costume for her LOL)

For a rare treat we get Hebrew National.
While growing up I was NEVER allowed hot dogs...or any other fun food for that matter (probably better off never having Twinkies, marshmallows or rice krispies...) so occasionally for a treat we pick up Hebrew National all beef and enjoy - figure with my careful food upbringing I can splurg occasionally....but I thinks the pups have only had a couple small bites...they can't truly enjoy them...they swallow everything whole anyway.

I don't eat them often, because of the stuff in them. My father worked for Armour meats for almost 40 yrs, so I know what's in them. But every once in a while I will just kill for either a steamed hot dog, or a Slugger dog, A slugger dog is a hot dog from a little stand called Sluggers in Fanueil Hall in Boston. We're actually going there today for our first outdoor dachshie meetup of the season:wahooo: . My granddaughter and I are going out for a hot dog afterwards, as we have almost 2 hrs to kill before the next train home. .

Hotdogs got me through some of the tightest times, I still enjoy them.A loaf of bread and a pack of 10 doggies can feed you for a week if you're careful and have some kool aid.I like them with pork and beans too! Yumm!!

I still have 4 kids at home and things can get a little tight financially. Hot dogs are some of my kids favorites and I can even tolerate them with enough onions and avocados. (I put avocados on almost everything! and no, none for the pups)

I am a FORMER hot dog lover!
My teenage daughter has recently inspired me to become a vegetarian (her inspiration is her deep love for all animals).
I haven't eaten 'meat' since Ash Wednesday. I am not a strict vegetarian, as I allow myself fish, eggs, and milk/dairy products.
Of course ... hot dogs (and hamburgers) are now taboo.
