I keep buying Ryan toys, but he's not interested!

So far I've bought him a squeaky dinosaur, but I think it's too large and tough for him since he's so young, so I bought him a squeaky mouse on some flossy rope, which is soft enough for him to squeak, but he's just not interested. I've also bought him a bone shaped toothbrush type thing that also is supposed to clean, but, again, he's not interested. :(

I'm just not sure what I could get him that he'd like, maybe a stuffed squeaky?

Don't get discouraged! There was only one toy Charlie took to right away, a squeaky pig. It's still his favorite toy. But all his others, including nylabones, had to sit around the house *awhile* before he showed any interest in them. And I'm talking months for some of them. But definitely a soft squeaky might interest him. Just watch him with it so he doesn't destuff it. :)

:yikes: *Gasp* Maybe he doesn't like toys?! Hmmm, I doubt that!

I would definitely try a plush toy with a squeaky. Also, maybe a tennis ball. Kinda bounce it around him and see if he responds. :bounce:

Hope this helps...I have never had this problem because everytime I sit down I have a toy at my feet and 2 big brown eyes looking up! :)

Like a kong filled with treats. A lot of the doxies like the one that rolls and they have to work to get the treats out. It would be a way to get him to interact with toys. Give him time he might suprise you and just pick one out that he likes yet.

I would try a small plush toy. Oliver doesn't play with hard toys and nor does Tammy.

I would say a puppy kong with a little bit of peanut butter inside. That was Schatz's favorite when I first brought him home.

Try Dr. Noy's Material DogŪ Toys PetsMart & JeffersPets sell them.

They are the favorites around here. They come in small sizes just right for my crew and the sqeakers can be replaces... each toy comes with a replacement and you can also buy them seperate. Another plus with these toys is that they are plush and soft but there is no stuffing for them to get all over the place or swallow.

Mine won't play with a toy if it's too big for them to get the sqeaker going.

My new foster boy, Scooter, is the only one that will play with rubber toys. The others only like stuffies with squeakers. You might try one of those.

a lot of dogs will not play with toys on their own. They are very interactive creatures, though... so if you roll a ball around, or squeak a toy and then hide it under you or throw it to fetch, he may start to enjoy them. My girls really like toys and will actually play on their own (or with each other). Amber and Tristan preferred to play with a human - her favorite toy was a rubber ball and his was whatever the most recent stuffed squeaker was. :D

Kongs and Nylabones are less interactive... those are what you stick in his mouth when he is trying to eat furniture or shoes or rip up the carpet - something to satisfy that puppy chewing desire. :dizzy: :devil1:

I will add that Kongs are MUCH more appealing when stuffed - I use a little peanut butter Kong stuffing (you don't need much, or try natural PB) and some broken biscuits or pieces of kibble - you want some pieces to be easy to remove and others to be bigger and more challenging.

I started my puppies on small squeakie toys and plush cat toys because they were baby sized. Don't give up yet!

Well, rubber soft squeaky balls are a favorite at our house. As are soft plush squeakies. He is now going through a phase of only playing with his Knotted rope. (This has lasted about 1 1/2 weeks) So, ropes are now on the "fave list".

Julius' first favorite toy was a big Sock monkey w/ a squeaker from "Multipet". He had it quite awhile as a puppy. That is until he finally got bigger than the toy, and destroyed it. ;) Good luck on the toy search. Dog toy shopping can sometimes be funner for the owner! :)

Clay loves the flat toys with no stuffing just squeakers...another she likes is the voice record ball...you put treats in there, and when rolled a certain way they will dispense, but your message plays as she rolls it (word of caution, don't let it get near a water bowl)

Good advice from kpm-tex. Our dog, Nook Nook, is INSANE :bounce: over these toys. She had only half-hearted interest in her toys before. Since getting a couple of these we now call them her "babies"..because that's how she treats them! (maybe a little rougher though) . They sell a mouse that is very small...try that.
