I was looking over this club. I was thinking of join it and but as I rad you have to have two that would sponsor you in order to I suppose even be considered. I dont know anyone really that is within this club.
I am now thinking what is the point. I mean how are those like me going to get started into such without knowing anyone.
Any advise

What are your reasons for wanting to join? I am planning on joining but I am very active in preformance events. There are some moments in preformance that I want to try to sway in one way or another. DCA would at least give me a vote to do so.
If you do decide you are interested, start with the nearest AKC Dachshund club. Get to know them. Get involved with them and any events you can. Join their club and then DCA will be a more obtainable group. If you want, I can find out about clubs in your area pretty easy. I am involved with the Dallas club as are a couple people other folks here.

I totally agree with Zandra, start locally first. She and I joined the DFW dachshund club about the same time. I got interested in Earthdog, agility and field trials all sponsored by the DFW club... got to meet some of the people and finally decided to join (I've never been a member of any type of club before). Don't think that the local or regional clubs are just about conformation. Dachshunds can compete in more AKC events than any other breed... there is lots to do.
I plan on joining the National club as well.. just to be able to vote on things that impact the events I do participate in with my crew. But starting locally is the way to go. The local / regional clubs are also the ones that get almost all 'events' up and running.. even the national specialties.

I have finally found a club here but isw not really local its like in the middle of the state. Its called Central Carolina Dachshund Club. We are going to a dog show is SC on the july 3oth. I was invited to join in the club meeting as a guest after the show. So this is a step in teh right direction.
I place to show the boy in Earth dog, and obedience or agaility. I know earth dog cause they both seem to enjoy the tunnels and such. But we will see, they are still tiny and I have a long way to go in the training process but was looking for something that would be fun for the dogs and myself to do

Glad you found a club and a show to go to. Before you think about agility, you should do enough obedience to have a reliable stay, come (recall), a sit and a down. It will make your life so much easier... even though you can learn the obstacles without obedience.
