Well, Moose should have competed in his first show at about 8am this morning. Of course, I can't call Beckie to see how he's done yet because she has some other dogs she's showing and probably won't be all done until after 11 or so. But as soon as I get an update I will post.
And of course Lori is on pins & needles because THORNY is showing at 10:25a this morning.
Don't worry....I'll find out how she did too!
So, send them some :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: for a good showing!
Lori & I and my hubby & kids are leaving tomorrow for the show & we will be there for Sunday's showing.

I thought I would update everyone. I just talked to Beckie for a long while.
They had terrible thunderstorms last night in Owensboro. They flooded the area around her RV and guess what???? All of her male dogs had a mud puddle party!!!! So...when she got up this morning everyone was covered in mud & she didn't have time to get everyone cleaned up in time to make it to ring call. So, she didn't get to show anybody EXCEPT Stormy & Faith (both females)...and she said even that was a waste because the judge wouldn't put up anything but Standards.
Sooooo....she doesn't have anything but a couple of solid wires entered tomorrow. But everyone will have another chance at the ring on Sunday (when we will all be there) so keep your paws crossed for them then!
Unfortunately due to the weather, it cost her a couple of hundred dollars in entrance fees! YUCK!
I'll update this again when we get back on Sunday.

Well, we're back. The Mooseman took THIRD PLACE! Not great, but okay....it was his FIRST show! He did fabulously until Beckie put him on the table and the judge walked toward him, then he shied away. He sort of leaned with this look on his face like OMG...OMG...OMG!!! LOL
Anyway...he tries again in a few weeks at Muncie, IN.
As for the rest of Beckie's crew, they won LOTS of ribbons, but no one got any points. Faith & Thorny both won reserves, so they were VERY close!

A third is very good for his first time out. All the stress of having a judge look you over must have gotten to him! Congrats to all the rest of the group too.

It is a shame that Becky lost all that money for entry fees. I hope that the next show she can kick some butt. I hope that Moose gets all kinds of special love'n after such an exhausting weekend. That looking good is tuff work when you want to play in the mud and have fun.

It is scary for them to be high up on the table AND have some stranger touch you all over. That's why show puppies are put up on the table a lot when they grow up. And every stranger that comes to your hous eis invited to "go over them". You may want to do that with Moose to get him over the fear.

You should have seen Steve and Dana's faces while he was on the floor. I thought they were both going to stroke out. Hand over the faces. Proud
and nervous parents for sure.
Thorney did well too. IMHO she was the prettiest girl there and I beamed till I about burst the entire time she was on the floor.
Lord I love that girl, kept her parked in my lap as much as possible but it was so nasty hot that it was hard to do. I miss her already. She is such a doll.
And yes I got pictures, will post tonight when I finally get home.

Imagine the setting, typical grassy area (better than a parking lot with hot asphalt to ex the dogs on) bottom of the small slightly sloping hill. Our friend came to our RV on Thursday night and visited, she left around 12:30 am, we have an 8:00 am ring call. Now Laura came about the time my mind was set to counting sheep and settling in for at least 6 hours of sleep. Sherry and I had just went to bed. So Laura stays for about an hour and heads back to her RV. We shut out the lights and come to find out, both of us laid there for about an hour before drifting into lala land, neither said a word. At approx 2:30 am, we are awakened by a shaking RV as the winds picked up and we saw flashes of light through the blinds, then the rain came and we had lightening hitting all around us, it POURED and POURED, we looked out the windows as the wind blew and through the flashes of lightening we could see that tarps were flying in the wind (they had been fastened down with clamps and bungees to our ez-ups) I forgot to shut out my lights so I could see my ez-up which was attached to my ex-pens, had been blown severely and was up on two legs. I looked to see that Sherry small awning she had attached to her van had fallen over, tarps blown from where they were at and her ez-up was not where it had been, it was now nearly into the ex-pens of the neighbors behind us, one leg was folded under it and it was bent into unatural ex-up shapes, our friend's ez-up was bent in toward the center and Sherry and I had to laugh to keep from crying. Her ez-up was her 2 nd one, the other torn up by wind storms at another show, my ez-up was my original one I bought years ago but had retired it due to the fact that it was NOT an ez-up but a Hard-Up and it usually took 4 people to actually erect it, however, since my other two ez-ups had been wind damaged and really beyond repair for traveling, I had no choice but the take the original with me. So finally at 4:30 am, the rain and wind settles down and we can now get back to sleep, only to have the alarm go off in two hours. I laid for at least 30 minutes listening to it, Sherry claims she never heard it, I finally get up and decided to see if I can straighten back up my ez-up and ex-pens so I can put the dogs out. There are puddles of water all over the boys pens as there was small hills and valleys on the ground and it was very uneven. I straighten up my ex-pens and ez-up and put the dogs out, now it is after 7:00 am and ring call for smooths is straight up 8:00am and we are parked about 2 blocks from where the rings are located. Sherry went to take some dogs out or bring some back in and told me I should go look at my boys. Well, head to toe mud doesn't really describe them. The Kuranda bed was covered in mud and the boys was having a blast, I said OMG!!!! Even the girls had a bit of fun in their ex-pens but was nothing like the boys. It was a kodac moment but no time to take pictures thats for sure. I tired to think about how I was going to get this mud off of the boys and there was a deep mud puddle outside of the ex-pen, it was the best I could do at the time. Bacardi, Dudley and Tsunami wasn't being shown, their butts went into their crates as they was. Dylan, Joe and Cash (all piebald) went into the mud puddle to get rig of the cakes and splatters of mud they had all over them. I dried most of the mosture off of them with towels and put them in their crates. I washed Stormy and Moose with the waterless Shampoos and put them in the crates on my cart. I wiped Faith down and put her in a crate on the cart and Justice too. It is now 7:45 am and I am not dressed and need to walk 2 blocks with the dogs on a cart of which I know I will likely have to stop several times due to Sciatica. Needless to say, I got to ringside when Open Miniature dogs was in the ring. Moose was in Bred-By and Justice was in Amercian Bred, both classes are right before Open Mini. So I only got to Show Faith who placed 3rd in her class of 4 and Stormy who was in Best of Variety competition and didn't do anything either. After my morning and fearing all piebald dachsies would be "yellowed" from the mud, I pulled all of my entries for the rest of the day.
