This is a request from Tom Flynn, DRNA -Georgia.
*************************************

Mr. Beasley was adopted by his new family a couple of weeks ago in NC. He was originally owned by a family that made him a yard dog. After several years he was given to a relative that moved him from the yard to the basement. They were gone up to 14 hours a day and finally decided to let us place him. Well, after two weeks in a real home, he has blown a disc in his neck and is in extreme pain; he isn't paralyzed yet, but will be if he doesn't have surgery. Mr. Beasley is four years old and has no prior neck or back problems; this was a total surprise. His family can't afford the surgery he needs, and I'm asking for an early Christmas present to Mr. Beasley. On faith I'm going to tell his family to get the surgery and try to help them raise money for the cost. This would be a major financial issue for most of us if it happened to our dog.
Without surgery he will have to be put to sleep. The specialist estimates a 90% chance of success if we do it quickly.
If anyone would like to help us save Mr. Beasley's life, please contact me.
This is a chance to help with Dachshund Rescue. Not everyone can foster a dog or do transports, or home checks, but you can help save a special dog. At the level where it counts, rescue is very personal. Mr. Beasley is my rescue and I don't want to lose him.

For those who don't know, Tom Flynn is one of the shining lights of DRNA. This man works so hard and is so devoted to the cause. If you can help in any way, I know he would appreciate it. Mr. Beasley is a special dog and Tom Flynn is a very special man.

Thanks.

Just posted on W.Writings by Tom Flynn:

I wish I weren't writing this.
Mr. Beasley went to the bridge today at around 4.30 PM.
He went into cardiac arrest four times and they just couldn't bring him back.
My heart is broken. I just can't type anymore

Oh I was just coming to post the sad news.

I feel so bad http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/frown.gif

Thanks for caring about him you guys. . I'm sure the bill is still a big burden on them since treatment was given. I know any doantions not needed to pay for the bill would be doanted to another rescue dachsie in need though If you already mailed a check or would still like to help.

Lets remember his new family and Tom in our thoughts and prayers.

How unfortunate and traggic.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/frown.gif May I ask what caused his cardiac arrest? Was it related to his blown disc? I remember his pic on DRWP just recently. How sad his life was, and only experienced 2 weeks with his new family.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/frown.gif

I read about Mr. Beasley's surgery at WW. How sad that the surgery was sucessful, then later died. I'm thinking maybe it was the anesthesia?
