I'm sorry I haven't been posting very much lately. I've just needed some time to refocus. We went camping last weekend and it really helped. I've realized that staying sad and depressed is not going to bring Mack back-- and he certainly would not want me to feel that way, either. I've done everything I can to hopefully bring him home safely, but I have to leave it in God's hands.

In the meantime, I have 3 other little dachsies who I love so dearly and I would absoultely never forgive myself if I lost one of them in the same fashion as I lost my Mack. So, this past week, DH and I have been working on a fence for our back yard. We have taken apart the pen and are going to use is for the back fencing. Our neighbors to our right have a privacy fence, so we're going to pick up where their's leaves off and use the pen sections to fence the 100' span across the back line. Then, in talking with our left-side neighbors, they are wanting to put up a fence as well, so they are going to go in with us and help us erect privacy fencing on that side. Two gates on either side and it's done. We hope to be finished by the end of the week.

Because (tidbit of good news, here), Jeremy has found a new job and starts next Monday! It's not going to pay as much, but it's closer and they are going to provide him with a company car and gas card.

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and well wishes for us. Especially those who sent PM's and e-mails. It has given me an enormous amount of inner peace and hope. I still have faith that he could return to us, although I know the chances of that happening are increasingly slim. But, somehow, I know, regardless, he will be okay. And someday, we will see him again.

Thank you for the update. I am too busy lately to read much on the board but always am on the lookout for news about Mack.

A fence is a great idea. I was always trying to convince my ex to fence his yard and unfortunately it wasn't until Riley died that it occurred to him that it might be a good idea. He was so stubborn about not putting up a fence. I guess that's why he's now the "ex"...

More rayz that Mack will come home or that he at least somewhere safe and warm.

Also - congrats about the new job! A car and gas card is a MAJOR bonus these days!

I wanted you to know that we adopted a wire hair stray from a shelter; we found her through petfinder. We intended on going through DARE or Coast to Coast D rescue but I logged on to Petfinder and she was found on the side of the road. The reason I am writing is that I thought you would like to know that your baby may be very safe, warm and loved right now, as is Kady to us. I often think of the people who may have loved her before and hope that their pain isnt stifling and that they know in their hearts she is okay. Both pups we have in our lives (including Kady) like to play run away games. We have taken Kady to clicker training and hope that the emergency recall she has learned helps us someday if necessary. We love and take care of Kady as if she was a child (and I am a single mom of two) and I am sure Mack is out there. He may come back; but if not, please know that he is probably well taken care of . Your story touched my heart.
