We took Chewie and Reggie for their last car ride to the vets. First we stopped and let the dogs all play at our local dog club building. Chewie was able to enjoy having lots of treats the kind he doesn't usually get. Because of his tummy causing him problems. They all enjoyed the beautiful fall day for one last romp with his buddies. As sad as we are to say we had made that final decision we no longer have to watch him going down hill. It was so hard to every day wonder how much longer and if we should or shouldn't take him in. When our kitty Reggie became ill to we decided to take them in together.
So now we are trying to remember the good days before he lost his beautiful coat and would shiver even on the warm days. Or not have to feel bad for getting tired of getting up in the middle of the night with him some times 2 or 3 times. Now he can be free to chase the airplanes in the sky. Maybe now he can catch them and go for a ride.
Chewie never was the brightest bulb you might say but he had the most adoring personality and most loveable guy. As I sit here crying I can say that I was so glad we had been blessed to have him. How many dogs trust you so completely that even when he got stuck under a dead tree in a creek he just looked from under the water and just waited for us to rescue him.
My Sweet Chewy may you RIP and always know how much we loved you and Reggie too. :angel1: :angel1:

I'm so sorry.

Saying goodbye and letting go is so painful.

They take a part of our hearts with them.

Oh I'm so sorry for you. My deepest sympathies to you. This is such a hard decision to make and I know how much you love your babies so I know that this had to be a heartwrenching decision for you. You did the right thing but you already know that or you wouldn't have done it. Big big :hug2: for being so brave and such a good guardian to both of your babies that you couldn't let them go on without the quality of life.

:kfrown: What a wonderful guardian you were to both Chewie and Reggie. You loved them and gave them the best lives they could have had, and then when it was time to let go, you did. I'm sure it's so hard not to be selfish at a time like that, to try to keep them with you even though they may be suffering. :bighug: for being so brave and doing what both you and they knew was right. I know they're both romping at the Bridge now, sweet :angel1:s they are.

I think it is a fabulous final gift that you were strong enough to give the kids that last precious wonderful day. It is obvious how very very much you loved them, and I am certain that the feeling will forever be mutual.

Rest in peace, darlings.

The tears and the pain are difficult, but the love they blessed you with is stronger than the hurt of the loss. I will be  for you, and I will give Duchie an extra smooch tonight in the memory of the love that you shared with your furkids.

I'm so sorry for your loss. To lose two furkids together must be especially heartbreaking but how lovely to think of your two angels making the journey to the bridge together :angel1: :angel1:

With regard to your kitty Reggie, a friend sent me the link to this poem the other day and I just love it

I am so sorry to hear about all this. Having gone through it with Casey recently I know your heart is broken. I also know he had a wonderful life and wonderful home full of love with you. He's romping with all our kids at the bridge now but you'll see him again one day and wont that be the most wonderful reunion. Hug to you my friend and a shoulder if you ever need one.

Some one might think it strange that a bunch of strangers words could mean so much. But even though I will never meet most of You, You are all part of our family here on the DBB. We all share our love our long little dawgies & other critters too. This really is a special group of doxie lovers that I am so blessed to be part of.
Thanks for being here no matter what the situation has been. You've been here for me through both laughter and tears and no matter what. Especially all the nights that I couldn't sleep and it seemed some one else was always on line. My heart is beating a little faster with all of the love and caring from you folks. :heartbt: :grouphug:

My sincere condolences for your loss. My heart goes out to you. It is the most difficult decision that we will have to make when it comes to our pets. Knowing that they are painfree and healthy at the bridge is a welcome thought.
