but its the 1st time i have actually seen it and not just heard about it... today i was surfing the net and i came across a post with this link in it and i visited (big ole mistake)and what i saw was a seriously disturbing scary site... THEY ARE SELLING DOGS/CATS ON THE INTERNET... like you can add them to your shopping cart and our beloved dachshunds are there no mini.'s that i saw but under med. breeds there were standards ... how do these ppl operate like this its plain sick ... the only screening that goes on is weather or not your credit card or check clears. Anyways heres the link.

I'm not sure there is much we can do about the site and I see it is the same site that started as OrderPet.Com and was previously talked about here. I thought someone had reported that pet.com had made them change their name but I see that pet.com is helping sponsor the site. I send a complaint letter to pet.com asking that they remove their advertising and that I did not think it was appropriate for a company that claims to support animal rights to be supporting such a site. By the way did you notice the price on the standard dachshunds? It was $599 plus shipping for either sex. About the only good thing I could see about the site was they they do require an unwanted animal be returned to them rather than be surrendered to a shelter or resold and that they gave a two year return offer on genetic defects.

Even though I was expecting to see standard doxies, I still shuddered when I saw them. There is another site like that, but I forgot the link. You can find the link on Dog Breed Info's message board, though, @ www.dogbreedinfo.com, (http://www.dogbreedinfo.com,) then click on message board. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/kfrown.gif

That's just horrible. Also, and this is so irrelevant but, was it just my screen or did they have pretty long legs for dachsies? "Add to cart" indeed

Hi Jen:
Went to the page, hit "contact" and wrote a plea for them to stop the practice of selling via the internet. I tried posting 3 times and 3 times their service refused the email with an error message. Have you tried? Since there was such a great reponse from members here, about the Wyoming Dachsies, IF we can get through, we might want to bombard this online store with mail.
Let me know what you think,
Roxane

There are two past threads in this group you might want to read to see a little of what has been discussed about this site in the past. Look for the topic "Online puppymill~~Make me want to spit!!" started by Owen's Mom and "Pets-R-Us is Gone!" started by Penny's Aunt. It will give you a good overview of the previous discussion about this site. As far as the long legs in the dachshund photo's anyone who who has worked with computer graphics to any extent and tell you it was just a cast of not keeping the original aspect ratio when the image was resized to fit the allocated space.

I would lean towards sending protest letters to their banner advertisers. If the advertisers have to spend too much time reading complaint mail they will pull their dollars which may cause the site to fold faster than any thing else you can do. The people who set up a site like this don't care about the animals they are selling so you can't appeal to their morals but you can try to put a dent in their wallet.

Super advice, Tom. Later tonight, time permitting, I will see if I can contact the advertisers.
You are probably 100% correct about "they don't care", otherwise we might be able to contact them directly.
Thanks,
Roxane
