Okay, I am wondering a few things about my dog...
Why does she wipe her feet after she goes to the bathroom? She is a year old and just started doing this behavior.
Why does she eat tissues, toilet paper, paper towels? I still have to lock her out of the bathroom!
How come she eats all her toys?
Who taught her to be so pitiful while begging?
How does she scoot her crate across the floor when I am gone? She moves it from one room to another and even turns corners!
Why does she sleep on her back? This is the first dog I've ever seen do that!
Last but not least, how did she get to be so darn cute?

Because she is a dachshund.

They all do this, and we love them for it.

I can answer the part about kicking the grass around after a good potty session Dog's are very territorial by nature and want everyone (doggie people that is) to know that they just went potty there and so they are actually spreading around their scent. Owen does it, usually kicking a pile of dirt all over me as I bend down to pick up the poo!!

You're little girl sounds pretty powerful if she's able to move the crate all over the house. It's a very funny picture in my mind!! Owen has been known to push his food dish (Back when he was still eating kibble) around the house, under the couch, or cover it with a blanket.

Why do they sleep on their backs? Hmmmm I don't know, but they sure are cute when they do

This reminds me of last night. Wotan has an old, tough rubber dog ball with a bell inside. He's tried everything to get that tinkle thingy out... even eating chunks of that nasty rubber!

I finally decided I didn't want him to have poop that bounced back, so I took that ball and put it up and said the N word to him.

Right away his ears drooped, his eyes locked onto mine in a forelorn way and he shivered. It was so pathetic that I did the unforgivable and laughed at him!

THEN he started to cruise the table and whine. First low and sad , then louder and demanding. I finally gave in (those DWD L@@KS got to me) and I figured if he wanted to eat that ball for midnight snack that was OK with me...

Wotan then promptly lost interest in the thing after he "won" and went and chewed on an old bone...

Love the photo!! And the story!! Thanks
Yea, I know I have a typical doxie, I was just wondering about the rest of you. I seriously have never seen one sleep on their back before mine, til now of course! I would love to hear more stories about this.
I have a pretty funny picture in my mind too about the crate moving across the floor. I just can't figure it out. I guess I'll have to get a video camera someday and set it up when I leave. I love my doxie for all the crazy things she does!
Wotan's mom, I sure am glad I am not the only mom who gives in! What would we do without them?

OK, I'm still laughing over Sonja's "bouncing poop" remark, and at Wo's amazing manipulative powers! Watch out, Sonja--next thing you know, he'll be bending spoons with The L@@K!!

Teresa, every dachshund I've had has slept on his back. I have no idea why, but it can make for some fairly hilarious photos. I'm gonna have to figure out this Photopoint thing because I have one of Farfel on his back in which he looks like he has no bones in his body at all. We call it the "Farfel Fillet" photo. When Twix is a little older, she will probably add to the hilarity by letting her lips fall back so that her teeth show AND snoring, all at the same time!

They are just the funniest little dogs!

Yeah, I'm kinda stuck on the bouncin' poop thing too. That and the "fig leaf". How modest Owen is! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/blushie.gif

Isobel sleeps on her back whenever she is napping out of her crate. I also have an aussie/collie mix who sleeps on her back the majority of the time. She's a big girl and can twist herself like a pretzel in order to "fit" on the chair. She looks like a GIANT lh weiner dog!

OOOOOHHHH!! I love the pics!I guess the doxies I had growing up were abnormal! What amazes me is that Twix always wants under the covers and then rolls over on her back. I thought she was doing it because she got hot--guess I was wrong! Here's another question: Why does my dog tell me she needs to potty and when I take her out she just lays in the grass?!?
Do you guys/gals have anythings your doggies do that makes you wonder...Why does she/he do that?

The chewing is natural dog behavior.
The grass-kicking is territorial.
The cute is just personal opinion.
The begging was trained into her by some mysterious person who enters your house when you're gone & spoils her rotten & undermines all your training.

As far as getting the Hooman outside and then enjoying the sunshine~ that's the special training implanted in your brains with the frito toxins that whift up from under the blankets when those pups lay upsidedown!

Okay, I hear some sarcasm here. I don't know anyone who would spoil my dog, least of all me. Twix doesn't have a lot of Frito toxins--maybe they will show up as she ages. Or just maybe I'll have to get her a brother or sister I like that idea!!
Penny's aunt--what do you mean cute is personal opinion? Aren't all wieners cute?
