Yeah they wont adopt outside of wisconsin though as alot of the dogs are in bad shape i was gonna try to get one of the younger ones ... my hubby like chi's and i dont think a older dog would make it with this wild bunch ...lol Oh well http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/frown.gif Im sure i will find my calling soon enough ... like i need another dog...lol http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Pamela, the breaking news, yesterday, said they were taken to a makeshift shelter by Wisconsin Humane Society. I went to the news story, originally, because they said small dogs, _including_ Chihuahuas. Wanted to see if there were any dachshunds. I have tried 4 different ways to get to the website with no luck. It is: www.humane.mil.wi.us (http://www.humane.mil.wi.us)
Having no luck there I have emailed their contact person:

(To our Jen; some coincidence, huh?)
As you both know, I become irritated with any group that turns down a potential good home because of geographic limitations. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/bad-boy.gif
It makes no sense to me that with 226 dogs, they would ask the people of _one_ state to provide homes.

The dogs are being sent to several of the area humane societies: Waukesha, Dane & Ozaukee County shelters, & are being assisted by Animal Planet Rescue in CO. Maybe you can find a contact through one of them.

Well yesterday hubby called over there and talked to a bunch of ppl and it seems there is a list you can put your name on and they will call you and talk with you about the chi's ... so we are just waitting now ... but she did say they wanted most of them to go to homes with other EXPERIENCED chi owners or no other dogs http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/frown.gif So im afraid we will be way down on the list... but on the up-side of this whole thing i may get to foster a doxie http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif A lady called me last week she has a doxie (possibly preggers) about 10mos old (if she is its by her male doxie which she sold .... and shes not showing yet and she would be about 3wks or so along. Shes a blk/tan smoothie looks like my Rosie her name is Cassie ... she has to get rid of her because her so-called boyfriend has been kicking on the dogs <IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm23.gif" border=0> what a a$$hole ... i told her i will be happy to take her ... but if she had pups they would stay here with me i would not give them over to her ... and she said fine and she would call me tomorrow night and let me know if she was sure... i will foster her until (IF) she has her pups then when the pups are around 10wks ill screem homes for them and have her spayed http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif I really want to do this and hubby is kinda excited too.. we are hoping that she does call back because she wouldnt give me her # i think her boyfriend prolly beats her too http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/frown.gif Sad situation. Well im waitting to hear from her i even gave her my cell. # just in case... havent heard anything yet. Jeff is pacing the floor too...lol And just to think about a year ago he said he didnt like dachshunds... what a sucker ... i LOVES them... if you ask him now he will say he never said that...rofl .... god i hope she calls me tonight.
