I am a volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Los Angeles. I have a nine year old wish child who is very sick. His wish is to have a dachshund just like his favorite pet who passed away three months ago. His dog, Buddy, was a one year old dachshund. I have a picture I can send to anyone who can help me. Please email me at Shelcap@aol.com and let me know where I can find a dog like Buddy and make this child's wish come true.

I've forwarded the information to an LA area Dachshund Rescue contact person. I ask that she check this out to see if responsible plans are being made for what will happen to the dog when the boy dies (I believe make a wish is for terminal patients) and if everything works out to see if they have a possible match. I also told her to contact me if they can help but make a wish is unable to afford the adoption fee. If that happens I told her I would post a message here to see if our members might be interested in helping.

We would certainly be glad to be a part of defraying the costs for this child and pup. I don't know if the rules have changed, but a couple of years ago Make a Wish children did not have to be terminal but they are very critical and death is something they know way too much about.
