The end of September will be the first time we've left Shelbie apart from the odd overnight trip and we're going for two weeks<IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm14.gif" border=0> . I know she'll be perfectly safe with the wonderful works-from-home dog sitter we have but two whole weeks - from your experience will Mum and Dad ever be spoken to again on their return?!

It really seems to depend on the dog...we left Annie in the care of great dog-sitters last year for two weeks, and when we returned she was very happy to see us, and not resentful at all, but VERY bonded with her sitters. It's a little disconcerting to see how quickly they adapt to a new Mom and/or Dad!

My sister's dachsie Lucy, who has a much more tortuous emotional makeup than Annie, snubs my sister like crazy whenever she returns from a trip. It's the whole dachshund guilt thing--"So if I get used to you being around, are you just going to leave me AGAIN?"<IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm21.gif" border=0>

Yes, she will speak to you again but only after lavish bribes of treats and toys. If you don't bring her something nice from your vacation, she will bring down the concerted wrath of DWD on you. <IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm42.gif" border=0>

Thanks guys! I'm sure she'll be fine really but even after an overnight stay she's a bit "off" with me<IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm22.gif" border=0> oh well, I'm sure we'll cope!
