Here I was again, nail clipping time, overdue AGAIN. It's a nice day but I just wasn't into packing the dogs up, getting in car and driving to the groomers. So I took a deep breath and plopped Oliver on the table and proceeded to cut his nails. I was nervous enough to work up a sweat. Oliver, my tazmanian devil, will rip off your fingers, snarling WILD dog ONLY curled his lip ONCE. I only took off the tips because those black nails make me nervous but I DID IT!! I guess watching the groomer paid off.

(Juliette will be proud of me :D ) I plan on doing it every week until we get those nails down to a nice size. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Tammy of course was a breeze. She doesn't mind me clipping the toe nails, but she doesn't like it when I trim those feathers around her paws..go figure.:D

:party6: WTG Janet! You are braver than I am! I can play with Schatz's nails all I want but as soon as he sees the clippers he goes crazy and runs! Needless to say I let the vet do them!

WTG!!! You are SO brave! Nails scare the dickens out of me. I don't mind the white ones but the black ones makes me sooo nervous! I need to get Buddy's short, so they need some weekly attention as well, but I am so scared to do it. I may go for a dremel, undecided.

Cricket hates either one..dremel or clippers. I take him to the vet. A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. Congrats on braving the nail trim! :cheer:

I am so nervous about cutting those black nails I can't even describe it. I used a side nail clipper instead of the fancy one where the blade comes up when you squeeze the handle. I found that with the side one, I can SEE exactly how much of the tip I'm taking off and it made me a little less nervous.

I figure if I can do this myself, then I can cut them more often!! Same time next week, wish me luck..another little tip coming off of those nails.

WooHoo!! Excellent Janet! I know it's really nerve racking at first, but it is very easy.

Now, here's the thing you DON'T probably want to hear - you will, someday, miss and quick one of the little angels - and they will howl like you've just cut off a paw. It really isn't a big deal and once you've dealt with the canine melodrama, you'll get over it.

But, having said that, if you do just a little bit every week - both you and they will get completely used to the process :)

Juliette, you make sound so simple - Schroeder will try and take off your arm! The little brat is just that, a BRAT!! But then, that's our Schroeder
Oh - Way to go Janet, your my nail clipping hero!!!

Good job, I only take a little off at a time, because I cut Dudley's nail to close once and I think I felt worse than he did. Glad every thing went well with the clipping.

I knew you'd be proud of me Juliette...:party6: I told Darren when he called and he was amazed!

Oliver has come such a long way and Tammy well she's just always the perfect angel.

:party6: :party6: WTG! Good Job Janet!:party6: :party6:

It's one of the things I dread the most. Ally is terriable with nail trims. So bad I am afraid to take her to the groomers to have them do it because I am afraid they will tell me never to bring her again. She had dark black nails too....and I am always afraid of cutting the too short.

WTG! I know the feeling! I finally got a few of Taffy's nails clipped. The demon dog turns into a rottweiler...but I was holding her in my arms one night, and tried it while holding her like that....and wonder of wonders....she let me.

Congratulations on surviving it.....now it should get easier :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Congrats! :cheer: That is a good feeling, knowing you don't have to drive to the vet anymore just for nail clippings. We never had much of a problem with Schroeder, but our rabbit was another story. I was terrified of picking up our 4 lb rabbit because he would squirm so much and I just knew I would drop him and hurt him (they have pretty delicate skeletons), but after getting over that first time, it's been a breeze ever since. It will get easier and easier for you and Oliver from here on out!

The little brat is just that, a BRAT!! But then, that's our Schroeder

What is it about dachsies named Schroeder? Ours is a total brat too :D
