I haven't posted in awhile, so I don't know if this issue has been discussed lately, but here goes... I was having to take Heidi at least once a month (somethimes more often) to get her nails trimmed. She absolutely would not let us cut them. She would whine and wiggle to the point that I was just afraid I'd hurt her. The last time I had her nails clipped at the vet, I insisted that they allow me to watch. I noticed that one person stood up and held her firmly to his body with both arms - one across the top of her and one across the bottom. When she began to wiggle, they held her tighter until she relaxed. IT WORKED!!! Heidi will now let us cut her nails, and it only takes about a minute. We only cut the very tips, as we now realize that we can work with her any time. Afterward, she is praised to the sky and given a treat. She's very proud. Hope this helps someone with the nail problem. I was getting a little put out by the money I was having to spend on this task as all our other breeds through the years allowed us to do this ourselves...

Just looking at that adorable face of Heidi's who would have guessed she'd make any troubles? Glad you persevered until you found a way! Always such a great feeling to know you can do for her whatever your little furkid needs, isn't it?

Heidi you are such a good little girl to let your parents cut your toes. I think the key is to try and be calm. I only cut a tiny off too, I would just rather do it more often than worry about cutting them.

I too tried that with Buddy holding him down and the worse he got so when i discussed with the vet he suggested to muzzle him and showed me how with a simple piece of rope!:party6:
So when we got home Sat. I made a muzzle and no longer had to hold him down and made it a better experience for both of us.:spotting:

Ally in time has let me do her nails. She hates it
but I don't let her down till we are finished. Keep
doing it so she get's used to it.
