Now, I know there have been polls about what type of food you give your pup, what shampoo you use on him or her...and what about carpet cleaner?? That may be just as important--especially for me, who is still working on housebreaking!
Anybody have any they love, or any they hate? I'd love any suggestions--I'll probably end up buying them all! You can vote more than once!

We rent a rug doctor (and use the stuff that comes with it) from the local grocery store every couple of months... in between, we blot with paper towels and use an enzyme cleaner.

Simple Solutions (enzyme cleaner) works great. You can get it at Petsmart.

I used to used Nature's Miracle, but I found that eventually, it yellowed the spot and got, well, for lack of a better word, 'sticky'.
I have been using Get Serious! for about two years and I am very, very happy with it. It is more expensive, but I have found I use less and it definitely works better.
All of our carpet is gone now (just hardwood and tile), but I still use it on things like upholstry, etc. You never know when someone is going to yak and I have an old girl who is 14 who gets leaky sometimes.

I use nature's miracle. Seems to do a good job. I have never gotten yellow stains for sticky stuff left behind.
I usually use the Green Machine and/or Spot Shot! It's gotten out the toughest stains so far!

I use Woolite Oxy Deep 2x Pet. It works wonders on diarrhea and vomit. Not sure about urine. I haven't had the need to use it for that.:D

I picked other because we don't have this problem anymore.
We finally decided to do away with carpet. I discovered that rugs had to go as well. Anything on the floor that keeps the peepee from splashing back is a potty sopt to my little Whusht. We also keep folded quilts on the couches so if there is a sick spot, we only have to wash in the washer.

I use Simple Solution. A dog groomer friend of mine recommended it to me about 10 years ago when I was dealing with 2 sick Shih Tzu puppies. Completely non-toxic to pets or humans; instantly dissolves stain on contact; removes all traces of scent; works for urine, feces, bile, grass, blood, and other stains; has a baby powder scent to it. You can also use it to wipe down pet areas and toys, and also add it to laundry. The stuff is amazing... I've sworn by it for years!!

Too late for cold water on the blood, I guess, but that works on fresh blood - I believe Tide works pretty well, too. As far as carpets, I've been using Nature's Miracle but haven't been totally impressed. I may try something different.

I uses Simple solutions Stain and odor remover in the spray bottle. It works great on carpet and hardwood, and you can use it on other stains (vomit, blood, dirt, grass)

I spray ProSolve for pet stains on the spot and blot with paper towels. Then I use my Spot Bot. If I get it fresh, then I use water and vinegar in the Spot Bot. If it happened while I was out, then I use the Bissel pet solution in the Spot Bot.
I have a regular Bissel carpet cleaner also. I use the pet solution in general cleaning, and go over any "popular" areas a second time with water and vinegar in the machine.
So far so good, and my apartment has wall to wall beige carpets.

Have tried them all nothing seems to work well. Best to get rid of the carpet and put in Pergo & Tile.

I have used many pet products but none seem to work like tide...I put it in my rug dr (which I bought from Lowes when they got newer ones for $100)...I ran out of pet rug cleaner, and thought since it gets the stink out of the bedding and tiny carpets why not the big one...and it did work and smelled great...I have also mixed in a bit of bleach when doing my almost white carpet (yeah white carpet with dogs bad choice I know that now).

When Mocha was a puppy I used Nature's Miracle and baking soda, but since she's older and accidents are oh so rare I just use Resolve now.

I have the Bissell proheat2X, and we have all hardwood floors with area rugs. It is so easy to leve the solution in it and all I have to do is add hot water. My husbands sister owns a Servpro and she told me straight HOT water I have also used that!

A little too late for this, I'm sure. But, I've found that pre-treating blood stains with hydrogen peroxide works well.

Only messes my guys ever make might be muddy foot prints. They do not go in the house nor do they have 'accidents' in the house. From what I understand, I am very lucky.

To get blood out you can try peroxide BUt test a spot first where it can't be seen! I use Royal treatment good as new from HSN it works great and gets rid of odor too.

I like the idea of renting a carpet cleaner every few months. We've used a solution from PetSmart, but it ended up turning the carpet yellow after it dried regardless of how hard ya scrubbed and soaked it up (the peepee). We don't have a lot of problems, but we are searching for a good carpet cleaner that won't mess up the carpet like the solution did.

I'm not sure if it would work on Ivory carpet or not... but for my white uniforms, when I get blood on them the trick to getting it out is peroxide, works wonders... but I don't know know about on an Ivory carpet. Maybe a SMALL test spot somewhere hidden?? I would hate for your carpets to be ruined. Also, Nature's Miracle says it takes out blood but I've never used it for that.

I actually got a little green spot cleaner by bissel. It was only about $60, and you mix warm water and thier cleaning solution. (they have a pet solution) spray it on the spot and then the machine sucks up the solution and the pee! Works also on poopy stains, though sometimes you have to let it sit a bit.

We got a Bissel Spot Bot - I was surprised at how well it works. In the past I had been pretty disappointed by any of the consumer models.
Soak down the stain with Simple Solution Stain and Odor Remover, let it sit for a while (bottle says 10min minimum to let the enzymes work).
Mix up Simple Solution Carpet Shampoo (1 bottle makes 32 gallons which goes quite a ways even though the Spot Bot is a thirsty machine) dump it into the Spot Bot and go after it.

No carpet cleaner used, no carpet in the house. I tore it all up and put good tile down. Much easier to clean and brooms and mops do not make noise like a vacaum (which drive my 5 nuts and then it is "kill" the vac). Shampoo and conditioner is Mane and Tail for their fur.

I don't use any chemicals or store bought cleaners in my home so I use a vinegar/baking soda/water mixture and it works great.
