Crossposted from my playwrights list:
London, 8th November 2000..
To the citizens of the United States of America,
Following your failure to elect either a half decent candidate or man-monkey as President of the USA to govern yourselves and, by extension, the free world, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence.
Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume a monarch's duties over all states, commonwealths and other territories.
To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, please comply with1 the following acts:
1. Look up "revoke" in a dictionary
2. Learn at least the first 4 lines of "God save the Queen"
3. Start referring to "soccer" as football
4. Declare war on Quebec
Tax collectors from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisiton of all revenues due (backdated to 1776).
Thank you for your cooperation and...have a nice day!

This may seem off-topic but I have it on good authority, it was penned by a Dachshund! http://216.74.85.16/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Oh, so you got my note!! Actually, Queen Lizbuff (or Auntie Leelee as she insists I call her) is a bit busy what wiv her Mum bein' poorly so has asked me if I could take over the running of the Colonies for a while. So, with immediate effect:
1. All boy dachsies will form an orderly queue to become my Prince Consort (red heads first please
2. "Sunset Beach" will be remade with dachsies in the leading roles as I enjoyed sitting on Mum's tummy when she watched it cos of all the laughing - I will obviously play the role of Meg.
3. The White House will become my summer residence and be re-named Casa Shelb'n'mum.
4. Neinman Marcus will be granted a royal warrant and my Mum, carrier of the royal poo-bag will be festooned with freebies, same goes for Crate and Barrel
5. Did I mention about the red-headed boys already?! Her Royal Dachsie-ness Princess Shelbie

Jen, what a splendid idea. You must ask Shelbie what the exchange rate would be in pence and pounds.
Sorry, Augie, I am afraid it is too late for a recount of your votes. As I write, 4 ships of HMRN are steaming toward the US, laden I might add with tea.http://216.74.85.16/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
Does any of this sound vaguely familiar?http://216.74.85.16/ubb/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Roxanne and Jen, three dollars hmmm that would be about five Markie biscuits which will be the new currency around there. Just had another thought re leadership n all that, do you want our Tony Blair to tide you over for a while? He's not doing a whole heck of alot over here?! Ah, go on...fifty pee he's yours...

Debbie, we'll take Tony Blair...for 20 pee.
Jen, I would LOVE to see that face on a bill, but it would have to be a three-POUND note...and Queen Lillibet will probably want one of her corgis on it....
Roxane, what a great post! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif Would revocation of our independence and a return to British rule mean that the Beatles would be knights here as well? Bring it on!!!

Jen, your dox is sooooo cute! I would love to get longhair, but my parents will not let another animal in this house. We have 4 cats and of course little Timber. Until some of the cats cross the bridge[ I'm sorry, but it's the nicest way I can say it], I can't get another Dachshund. Besides, my dad really wants to get a Beagle. He had one nearly 20 years ago, but had to give it away because they were unable to care for him. His name was Trapper. My parents both worked full time then, and my mom had 2 cats, and they let Trapper have full run of the house while they were gone.
