Okay I know this sounds bad but just how do you pronounce dachshund? A friend of mine who I just found out raises them pronounced it dach hound. I don't think that is right. I saw on a site somewhere how to say it properly but now I can't find it. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Yeah, it drives me crazy when people say "dash-hound" too. It's German. It's pronounced docks-hoont.
I also have to say that seeing our little buddies referred to as "doxies" makes me slightly nuts too. A "doxy" is a prostitute. I have this unpleasant mental image of long little doggies wearing fishnet stockings and leaning against lampposts.... http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/uh-oh.gif

Oh My...I never knew "doxy" ment prostitute http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/blushie.gif I had thought doxie was cute, but dont understand where that came from, dachsie seems to make more sense. I will have a hard forgetting your image...it did make laugh though http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

There are 2 guys near my house that say "Here comes the little Datsun." I know Pluto is long, but long enough to transport people?

Er, um Wienergal,
We DO have quite a few Tarts and Trollups amongst us. Especially the ones who insist on running around nekid wearing only their Snoods.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

Ah, yes, the little doxie with the red hair, wearing nothing but a garter belt, fishnet stockings (4, the front ones are being held up with cranked-up suspenders), a cheap pink rhinestone necklace with a few of the rhinestones missing, painted toenails, & chewing delicately on a chunk of rawhide.
BTW, at her level, she SHOULDN'T be lounging against the light post... that's where the boys have been leaving their p-mail.

I'm a member of the "Dax-hoond" pronunciation crowd, but generally I stick with "Dachsies" -- not sure how much longer I can do that with a straight face tho, Wienergal. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/oogle.gif
Oh, and yeah, though the name is German, most Germans/West Europeans call them "Teckel"... guess that'd make me not only married to a techie, but mother to a "Teckie"
