I choose easy as pie and sits still for a while. Cocoa has a short attention span. But she normally just lies on her back on my lap and goes with the flow. Whew!!! I got lucky!!

We're doing it, once a week using a dremel. My husband will take Lucie to put her on the back on his lap and I do the job.
She will wine, shake, kick and sometime SCREAM only to test me but I don't stop and make it done :cheer:
For a while, we paid a groomer once a month but it gets soooo horrible (for the groomer and not the dog) that last time, they didn't want me to pay and I read between the lines to not come back and I don't blame them  After that, we had a couple of friends good at doing it but... it got worst so to keep my friends, we took the decision to do it our self with a dremel which surprisingly don't spooked Lucie as much as the clipper did.

I'm hoping for a REALLY SOUND SLEEP so I can sneak up her with the clippers and get the last four nails without getting personally nailed......again.
She looks like pure dachshaund, but in reality is a rottwieller/tasmanian devil demon mix.:eekdevil: :eekdevil:

Oh thankgoodness something's easy around here! Beau is a little angel about anything having to do with grooming. He just sits back and acts like he's having a day at the spa!

Clipping her nails...that was an almost impossible task when it came to Tia. She literally had to have atleast 3 people holding her, but I got the job done. Now we use a dremel, she still fights with it but not nearly as bad. When I do my dogs' nails, they have to lay on the grooming table and we have one to two people hold them. Tia's the only one that fights it though, the bigger dogs all behave. lol...you'd think she'd learn from watching the others go through it...typical Dachsie...
Since we have 5 . . . and no 2 are alike. :D
Actually 4 of them do let Jean dremmel them . . . but Star takes 2 of us . . . with clippers. :pullhair:

Alexis hates anything done with her nails. She fights the whole time. I have to hold her & let my hubby use the dremel. We both dread when we start hearing the click click of little claws on the kitchen floor. I can do just about anything with her except clip her nails.

i take sam to groomer..but he still whines..pullls.away..etc. at first he was fine..but since hes older hes become a big baby. i think he is ticklish on his feet. ususally she hooks his leash to keep him quiet(ha!) and if there are other dogs running around..hes is somewhat better.....but when shes done...he wags his tail and licks her hand!

Panda is great about letting me clip her toenails. Never
had a dog that was this good. My Dachsie in heaven (Rudy)
was a total beast. It took 2 sometimes three people AND
a muzzle to do it. He's normally a calm dog until we did
his toenails. I had to sometimes wear gloves because he'd get
out of the muzzle. :pullhair:

I cannot cut Petey's nails at all ever, so I take him to the vet ($6 and well worth it). At the vet's, one assistant holds him while the other clips, and Petey emits the most godawful high-pitched screams the whole time. He hits notes that sound bird-like, and everyone in the waiting room gets uncomfortable and nervous listening to it. I've learned to just walk out and let the vet assistants do it, because if I stay in the room, he stares at me with the "Mommy HELP ME!!!!" look and makes even more fuss than if I wait outside. Honestly, if they just pulled his toes off I don't think he could make louder more gut-wrenching noises. :yikes2:

Man OH MAN--if I even LOOK at Arnie's chubby li'l feet a little too intently, the tension in the room mounts!!!! His beady little almond eyes narrow and he telepaths: "Don't TOUCH my paws, don't LOOK at my paws, don't EVEN close your eyes and IMAGINE my paws...It's MY house, my bed, and, in fact, the nail clippers are mine, too, and you may NOT use them." Then he tried to will me to throw them down the disposal, but he doesn't know the word for disposal in telepath language, so, ...he hasn't succeeded there yet.
Ludie and Dieter will let me clip their BACK paws--but, the front paws are not to be touched.

I chose easy as pie, although it's not quite that easy! I have to trick Ringo, if I let him see the nail clippers first he'll hide under the chair. So, I pick him up, sit down and flip him upside down in my lap. He tries to bite my hand for a minute, Then he gives up and lets me trim his nails. The main problem is that he has really bad allergies, so his feet are often swollen. So sometimes the pressure from the nail clippers hurts him and he cries. Then I feel rotten, even though I really didn't do anything different. But all in all he's a very good boy about it. I trim his nails once a week just to keep him used to it. I reward him by brushing his teeth afterwards - I know that doesn't sound like a reward, but he loves it! I get him peanut butter flavored toothpaste, he thinks it's a treat. And he loves chewing on the toothbrush :P

we are getting a routine going. I have the treats while hubby has the clipper. I tell him when he's about to clip to say "when" and I give him the treat at that time so he is focused on the treat rather than the nails.

Thank God Rhys is not so bad I give her a treat and we hold her on her back and she will scream like we are about to chop her paw off but for the most part she does not move around alot, I clip her nails once a week and she is progressivly getting better. :cheer:

Nail clipping, ha! Schroeder will just as soon take your arm off then look at you :devil1: :devil1: We have to take him to the vet and they want to muzzel him, but I won't let them. I have to put a death grip on him and hold on tight and then they cut his nails help2:
Snickers go to the groomers and gets them done.
Obie is terrified to get his nails clipped, but we do it nice & easy
The rest of the pups just go to the vets too, it's much easier that way :pullhair:

What IS it about his nails?? I could see if he had a bad experience or something, but I have never hurt him while cutting his nails! It's Crazy! I think I was able to cut ONE the other day! Stubborn little guy...

I a almost afraid to take him to a groomer for it bc I think he'll be so miserable to them!

I used to take them to the groomers but now that I have 5 I thought I would try it myself. Boy was I in shock!! All 5 actually let me clip them with out too much of a fight. I just bought a Dremel and only the Baby girl was scared, the rest of them once they got used to it had no problems. For once something pretty easy, now teeth brushing that is a totally differnt story!

ok at my house he sees or knows i need to trim nails and he hides....i tired a fingernail file becuz his nails are jet black and i dont want them to bleed....i hae tried every thing but i dont want him to hurt or cry so i have a lady that is a retired etranarian that trims his nails for me.... he bites the clippers and screeches so she has me leave the room .....is it me or do lots of people feel bad about clipping nails on puppies???

Samson yelps like I just lopped his whole foot off. Scares me half to death. He always makes me think I hit the quick, even though I'm taking off a tiny little bit of the tip. I just let them do it at the vet. Less chance at heart failure for me. :faint:

Snoopy won't let me touch his toes. At the vet they have to take him in another room. Hes worse if he sees me. Why are you letting them do this to me mother?!
